Re: Spyderco should make this fixed blade knife

Fixed blade 4.75'' in M390 or 204P with a mirror polish and a spear point. Micarta handle or reddish cocobolo with a full tang. Blade thickness: an eighth of an inch should suffice. I'm new here, but I have seen plenty of others suggest new knives from spyderco (including myself, indicating I would...

Re: NYC Stabbing: Is that An Endura?

It is too bad he used a Spyderco. Now all the liberal media outlets will replace images of Buck 110s with Enduras in their obsessive glorification of the crazy and violent. Ban all lethal weapons including pens, chopsticks, meat skewers, hammers, chisels, baseball bats, any piece of wood that can b...

Re: I'd like to let a few of you try my Sprig.

G'day Lance. IMO a truly generous offer. Thumbs up No doubt, it will come as no surprise to you why I haven't expressed an interest. To be honest, I'm not surprised there hasn't been a higher level of interest for a knife that is designed to be used for animal (i.e birds, fish and other species) pro...

G'day Lance & Tdog
IMO, it's great to see the Sprig increasingly getting the attention it deserves.

And for those interest in one persons opinion of a table top comparison between the Southfork (IMO another excellent knife) & the Sprig:

Re: Southfork and Sprig in use on a farm

If it helps any, my Wife & Son had BBQ lamb loin chops and my Daughter and I had BBQ pork chops for dinner last night, with BBQ Garlic Onions, Mushrooms, Zucchinis and Capsicum served with a green leaf side salad & Balsamic Vinegar. Those of us who had pork also had Apple sauce instead of mi...

Re: Slicing and dicing with the Sprig

...... One of the main things I look at when judging whether or not a knife can perform as a kitchen knife is how its overall geometry (blade as well as handle) affords enough clearance for your knuckles to not hit the table/cutting board when making those rocking cuts. Did it feel comfortable enou...

Slicing and dicing with the Sprig

Not only can it clean fish and shave pigs, but the Sprig also make a mean kitchen knife to slice and trim bait sized peaces of steak and dice up the left overs for use as Berley.

The answer is yes to both.

I also like bird and fish skin so I pluck & scale rather than skin them as well. :)

..... I always thought pig hair was burned off, do large processing plants also shave with a blade of some kind? BTW, now I'm hungry and have to defrost some lamb stew I've got in my freezer. I'm not sure how large scale pig processors remove the hair. Scalding and scrapping is how my Pop and Dad s...

Re: Southfork and Sprig in use on a farm

Nice work Mick. I grew up way out in the country and I remember "hog killin day" well. Thanks for the memories...... Glad you enjoyed it. Whilst I'm sure Phil Wilson designed the Southfork with larger animals in mind, it certainly was comfortable and efficient to use on the lamb. My Nephe...

Southfork and Sprig in use on a farm

As promised, now it's getting cooler in the Southern Hemisphere, both the Southfork and Sprig has seen use in processing farm animals (cooler weather is better for hanging meat overnight before cutting up the following day). My Nephew used the Southfork to help shave both pigs whilst I used the Spri...

G'day Surfingringo Does anyone who was at the Amsterdam meet remember the size of the Spyderchef? I am assuming over a 4" blade? I am very excited about this knife and the fact that they are doing it in lc200n is a huge plus in my book. I will likely buy two of these. One for the kitchen and on...

Perhaps their business model was wanting to achieve higher turn over by advertising a discounted price below the minimum advertised price recently implemented by spyderco?
