Re: "Is this Authentic" Theme?

Anyway it wasn't my intent to stand on a soap box. It just kind of bugs me seeing prominent members of a community that's supposed to have integrity intentionally fueling people's fear, uncertainty and doubt (FUD) in order to "gently" steer them towards retailers favored by the community. ...

Re: "Is this Authentic" Theme?

The part that I can't understand is why anyone would go to that amount of hassle and risk to save 5 or 10 bucks. I guess everyone places different values on their time and energy. My last 3 Spydies from Amazon: Des Horn: $62 Manbug VG10: $24 Orange Dragonfly: $42 That seems like a savings to me wor...

Re: "Is this Authentic" Theme?

You have saved more money buying knives on Amazon than I have ever spent on knives. Right? ;) :D Please show me where I said that to you, specifically? I think I said in another thread that I probably spend more money on knives from Amazon than most people here spend on knives, and I still stand by...

Re: "Is this Authentic" Theme?

Honestly it seems like half the time this community fans the flames of that paranoia in order to grind an axe against retailers they don't like. That's what reduces my enthusiasm for the brand, not the chance of getting a fake. Telling someone they probably got a fake if they ordered from Amazon isn...

Re: "Is this Authentic" Theme?

I've been thinking that all they need to do is publish the weight of each knife alone and in box for every model and you can just throw it on the scale and know in a few seconds, not only if the knife is legit but the box and labeling too :) And I still think that most people have way higher odds of...

Re: Fake Stretch 2 G10 ZDP-189

Wouldn't the fakes have a different weight? Everyone agonizes over how to spot the fakes, but it seems like all you need to do is weigh your sample on an accurate scale. My guess is that the fakes almost universally weigh more, and that the real ones are pretty darn consistent in their weight. Same ...

Re: It's 2016, I'm ready for some M4!

That jade green sprint will be my first PM2 when it comes out. I thought the Manix 2 would be too big but I love it, so I rethought the PM2.

Seems like a PM2 in M4 might be a good starting point :)

Re: Which spyderco is in the mail?

My Mantra still hasn't shipped yet. This is what I imagine buying a knife from a bank or cable company feels like. Why so impatient? It's the Sunday after the new year... relax, you have a lot of knives. ;) Lazy Sundays are better with something shiny in the mail. None of the stuff I have coming in...

no, no civilian here. Using Yo2, delicas, and enduras for training. I carry a delica most of the time. I would never want to be attacked but I were I just want to have a chance of survival. I enjoy this type of training as well. I am in law enforcement, so learning how to protect others as well as ...

btw, it's not about gruesomely disemboweling anyone, it's about stopping an attack and hopefully save your own life. and it doesn't hurt to find something you like to stay active and learn something new. Yeah, I wasn't directing that at you, sorry. I was thinking more of their Civilian model and ho...

Re: nobody biting on fake UKPK

You don't mind the knockoffs? Not my personal thing, and I don't own any, but most of the knockoffs say "Ganzo" or "Navy" which come in brown boxes and they at least aren't claiming that they are legit and trying to scam people into thinking they are getting the real thing...

Re: Costly Amazon Mistake for PM2?

Ha that's a little bit like the McDonald's employee getting mad because you interrupted his mopping to order something. Heh, yeah, I try to be patient if I order food for 10 people at McDonald's too, but at some point it definitely is their job, and they should be happy that I'm ordering so much. A...

Re: Knife Training

My friends and I used to train with knives about a million years ago, but at some point I became a pacifist. I'm not morally opposed to people defending themselves with knives, but it's just not my personal preference. The reason I mention it is that I think the Kubotan is a more versatile weapon an...

at $85 the one I'm referring to is not worth picking up for novelty purposes! Yeah, the people trying to pass them off as real are pond scum. May their camels have fleas or whatever insult is appropriate for their locale. Luckily there's usually some red flag like "Ships from Schenzen China&qu...

Re: Costly Amazon Mistake for PM2?

At least you know that they know it wasn't delivered! My post office marks it as delivered, and then just somehow remembers to deliver it later. I of course found out about this after submitting a lost mail claim. The explanation was "Amazon gets mad at us if we don't deliver it." Wow, th...

Re: nobody biting on fake UKPK

Some people buy the fakes on purpose, though. The other day I saw someone on another board showing off several fakes they just got-all of them fake Taichungs.

For me personally, I don't mind the knockoffs, but the fakes bug me--the people trying to pass it off as the real thing.

Re: Costly Amazon Mistake for PM2?

It's all good with me if people want to pay a lot more for the same product. I guess I don't understand what they're getting that I'm not. Piece of mind? No one has tried to cheat me yet, nor would they get away with it. Several hundred Spyderco, Kershaw, Cold Steel, Ka-Bar, Victorinox, Boker, Mora,...
