Re: So, Sal, is the Caly3 model extinct ?!

I've had several of the g10 caly 3's, and they are my favorite knife ever. Sal has my eternal gratitude for its design. -No need for washers or bushings, the opening is glass smooth and amazing. -Never had lock rock. -wire clip is best clip ever -finger choil is fantastic, I don't care for the small...

Re: Caly Series. What's Next?

The caly 3 is by far my favorite knife of all time. I'd love to see a new version, still in g10 with something other than vg10. Perfect balance, smooth as glass.I tried the hap 40 version but didn't care for the steel. IIRC the factory at the time was only working with Japanese steels. The caly Jr i...

Re: Caly3: my favorite EDC

I've had a couple of the caly Jr and sold them. The clip needs updating and the thumb ramp needs jimping something fierce. The lack of ruined the knife for me. I think the same would happen with the full size calypso. What I adore about the 3 and 3.5 is how the jimping on the ramp and the choil lock...

Re: Caly3: my favorite EDC

The Caly 3 has been my favorite knife since I first bought one idk, 9 years ago? My caly is a plain jane vg10 model. No washers but SMOOTH AS GLASS. Every knife I purchase is measured against it, and they all fail. It's in my pocket 95% of the time. It's the most comfortable knife I've ever used and...

Re: Sal's Casual Bombshell Thread

The 3.5 was a Caly 3 designed for me. I prefer a longer blade. I'm currently experimenting with a possible Caly 3.5 in a light weight with nested liners like the Endura. Bi directional texture, with another maker. We usually don't like to change makers, but if the FRN version is popular, we'll need...

Re: supergold2 confirmation?

I have a fallkniven U2 in SG2 (SGPS is what fallkniven calls it) and it's superb steel. That knife runs $90 and isn't as nice as a delica. There's a youtube video of SG2 cutting test and it outperforms almost everything else the gentleman tested. (cedric and ada channel). A delica in SG2 is gonna be...

Re: Any chance for a slysz bowie sprint?

I think now that it's discontinued and everyone (including me) missed their chance they would sell fast. they're selling for 400 on the secondary market pretty easily.

Re: Boye Detent, a solution in search of a problem?

I love the boyw dent. My caly 3's are my favorite knives hands down and I find that the detent allows my thumb to "fall" into the perfect position to unlock without looking at the knife. It creates consistency. I have other lock backs without one and they are fine and yes I can unlock thos...

Any chance for a slysz bowie sprint?

I finally decided to buy one when it was discontinued and now the secondary market has exploded. A sprint would be awesome.

I loved my caly Jr but it REALLY REALLY needed jimping. And now that they exist, a wire clip which is the best clip ever put on a folder.

Re: Caly 3.5

I just received one of these from amazon and it is exactly the same. I think I will just return it to amazon and wait for another version to come out (not a CF fan, I like G10). You probably just got Yotehntr's return! :p Could be. You know when open it was solid; zero blade play. When closed the b...

Re: Wire clip or stamped ?

I wonder if they did tests on when they would snap? I have stressed mine ALOT to see their strength and I don't see them snapping at all. They actually resist stress better than stamped. I have had to replace stamped clips when they got bent a little too much and wouldn't hold tight anymore. The wir...

Re: Wire clip or stamped ?

I much prefer the Wire clip. I have carried stamped clips for years until I got my Caly3. With wire clips I have scratched wooden furniture and cars by accidentally rubbing against them with my stamped clip. With the wire clip it is no problem at all. I have NEVER found the wire clip weak at all, ho...
