Re: Mourning for the brick and mortar stores

There's still one close to me but he doesn't carry a big selection of Spyderco's anymore, just the safer bet type models. He does however carry dozens of BM models. This is why Benchmade is a different kind of knife company than Spyderco. They have the diversity and quality of a company like Spyder...

Re: Cost of Sage 5 LW

Could also just be that it's slightly less expensive to make the Para 3 in the USA than to have the Sage made in Taiwan with US steel that has to be shipped there. If the Taichung plant wasn't already making so many Spyderco models with S30V, that might make sense. In fact, I'd say that would make ...

Re: Knives you rarely carry but hesitate to part with for non sentimental reasons?

Sage 4, Sage 3. Sage 4 has a split in the wood that I don't want to exacerbate, and both of them are just not my favorite carries. Lil' Nilakka. I love this knife, but it's so small, and it's pretty rare, so I tend to baby it. Chaparral Raffir Noble. This one had the clip snag on a door and split th...

Re: Pobody’s Nerfect! Para 3 calamity.

The issue is one of using the same type of symbols (Arabic numerals) to denote knife iterations and blade lengths. I've suggested using Roman numerals for iterations in the past (Para Military II, Delica IV, etc.) but that's still a number, so there would still be a confusion when the name is not in...

Re: Sage 5 tightness

If you're comfortable doing so, and very careful, I would watch a disassembly video and take the knife apart for a good cleaning. Mine certainly benefited from doing so. Just remember, you don't automatically void the warranty by disassembling it, but you do if you damage it in the process.

Re: Casual Sage 5 Lightweight reveal

I got the Sage 5 over the Para 3 because I prefer the blade shape and the clip, as well as the handles. And in terms of pure utility, the Sage 5 is probably my best knife (size, blade shape, steel, handle/ergos, lock, etc.), though not necessarily my favorite (way up there though). But man... FRN Sa...

Re: The Drunken: Amazing Knife, Ruined by its Pocket Clip.

I don't have this knife and won't speak to it in particular. However, I will say that over half my collection is from Taichung, and what I've found is that they are extremely well-made and finished, and all of them seem to benefit from a disassembly+cleaning. And, while they come sharp enough, it's ...

Re: Dragonfly 3?

Not a DF3 really, but I'd love to see sprints in non-Japanese steels, if that's even feasible. I'm imagining DF2 in LC200N, or one of the M390/CTS204P/20CV family, or maybe M4 or Cruwear. I have 2 DF2s now; I'd buy another one for M390.

Re: Any guesses or leads on what the Sage 6 lock will be?

Top lock, powerlock would be interesting options.
But I could see a button-actuated compression lock since that's somewhat associated with a specific knife maker (Smock) and one with which they've collaborated recently.

Wow what an odd choice for a movie knife.
This here. I mean, I can think of a LOT of Spyderco knives that are better suited here. But any Spyder is better than no Spyder. :p

Lol that’s a joke right?
I'm pretty sure she's referring to the Techno getting a price drop from being discontinued, not a price drop to the Techno2. :D

Re: Techno Discontinued

I've had a Techno for over 3 years, and it was the first high-end knife and Spyderco that I bought. I loved it from the first time I held it, and it's a common carry for me on "Techno Tuesday" and/or "Framelock Friday" or just because. That said, I handled the Techno2 at Blade, a...
