Re: 2015 Forum Knife Poll: Locking or Non-Locking?

I am also more of a user than a pure collector, so that's why I voted for a locking knife even though I will almost certainly buy any forum knife that is offered, as I am still a "casual" collector of special models and would want to show my support for the forum. I agree with you on all ...

Re: 2015 Forum Knife Poll: Preferred Blade Length

I voted 2-2.5in. range since that is where the C22 MW would fit.

Re: 2015 Forum knife request, by popular demand!

hap40 C22 Michael Walker would be perfect. Bit of an AFI knife so suitable for forums :D I'd prefer light handles (antique ivory micarta), but black G10 would also be fine. ...maybe some HAP40 either would be awesome. I can imagine it inmy pocket already. Now we are getting somewhere and another bo...

Re: Ball lock wear problem on my old polywog

I think that mark is just showing you where the ball travels on the blade tang. I don't think it is a groove but rather the dirt and debris that gets deposited from the ball to the tang. Neither the ball or the tang are perfectly round or radiused which explains why the lark is not exactly straight ...

Re: Natives: Which is your favorite?

I tend to like the Golden Colorado USA EArth made Natives the best but I also had an AUS-10, combo edged, stainless handled model that also worked great. Which Natives are not made in Golden? The II (SS, AUS-10), III (3D FRN, VG-10), & IV (CF, VG-10) variants were all made in Japan. I think for...

The coyote brown ones Sal gives our bada$$ soldiers who keep us safe! Thank you for supporting them with great cutlery Sal. This. Only because I don't own any and am still holding out to win one. I would also like to see a micarta Calypso but I can understand why Sal doesn't want to use it. However I would like to know why Spyderco has such problems using micarta while Al Mar knives for example doesn't. Their ultralight series is very similar to the micarta Calypsos and are also made by Mok...

C87 Scorpius is a model that I always felt would benefit from changing the SS handles to G-10 just like the Poliwog and Lava.

I'd be surprised if CTS-BDZ1 is the next Mule Team. I recall Sal speaking at one of the fan meets (think it was one in Amsterdam) years back that he had a minimum threshold of 0.9% carbon content in steels used for Spyderco blades. The Mule Team steels used bear that out so far but the Mule Team Pro...

Thanx Cliff. We have a good relationship with the maker now and will be remaking the old models and then creating the new ("2") versions from MBS-26. I think one of the "reasons" for their performance is they heat treat in lead. sal Very interesting! Reminds me of Thiers Issard'...

Sal also previously mentioned that the manufacturer has a refined HT protocol for MBS-26 that brings out exceptional performance in the steel.
