Re: Shaman Cruwear; Brown Micarta characteristics

TLDR: "Cool scales." "Yup. Oiled 'em." Simply looks like the difference between linen and canvas micarta (the "L" and the "C" in the sample photos). The Shaman is canvas micarta, and your Native is linen. Exactly. Any other differences can be chalked up to whe...

Shaman Cruwear; Brown Micarta characteristics

The Shaman Brown Micarta Cruwear Sprint is likely a quick sellout when it reaches vendors, if the FOMO frenzy is any indication. The scale and steel combination has been popular in posts since the earliest rumors. They are not yet widely in the wild, so I hope this post will address some queries abo...

Re: Riddle me this!

Hi Lance, I'll take a look on a computer screen. Even with readers I can't see it that clearly on this old phone. Old and slow, just like....What were we talking about?

kind regards

Re: Riddle me this!

Any method which works is praiseworthy, Lance. And while satori may flash in 30 seconds, it takes longer than that to write the three weighings grid. It's all good fun. Meanwhile, here's a cross discipline puzzle I just cobbled for the forum: Sal, I gave a Salsa purchased at online forum for inlaw s...

Re: Riddle me this!

Thanks for posting that, Lance, and the trip down memory lane. I encountered that one about fifty years ago among many wonderful interactions with other puzzlers. (Martin Gardner was always delightful to correspond with, via letters. A different time, then. Pre ARPA ) I suspect you and most others ...

Re: How about a titanium compression frame lock?

That worked well with the first Salsa (I'd love a reissue of the Ti ATR, but the ho-hum response to the ATR 2 bodes poorly for that..) So the Salsa had an "integral" compression lock? That's interesting. Only the titanium first version. Subsequent Salsas use a liner for the compression lo...

Would be keen in other models such as the Para 3, but I'm not sure if titanium Spydercos have been stellar sellers.

Re: Factory edge poll

Generally, if the factory bevel is reasonably even and the edge will readily cut newsprint I'll use it as is for a trial period. Then I'll resharpen as needed, and eventually reprofile after repeated sharpening. Rare are my spyderedge blades which have *all* the factory serration grind lines cleared...

Re: AEB-L Urban Performance Reviews

Fine performance with most EDC tasks, but I have not use it in yard/garden/orchard (yet). Works great for packages, envelopes, clamshell plastic, tag removal etc. Ergos in use, comfort in pocket, and ease of deployment are all fine. Today's task included slicing two rolls of whatchagot sushi. (maybe...

Re: The Never Ending Appeal Of The Old School Spyders

I sincerely believe that we are in the Golden Age of Spyderco right now. Never in the history of the company have they offered a broader offering of designs, steels, sprints and other options as they do right now. The idea of what an “interesting” design looks like is very subjective but I feel lik...

Re: 1st Generation Ladybug appears lilac/purple... Name that color?

The original blue seems closest to the blue of the ZDP Stretch and Delica blue FRNs, not too far from the denim blue of the Kahr Delicas. Looks similar to the original ZDP color before it changed to British Racing Green. I really like that shade of blue. So I pulled out a Stretch Blue FRN ZDP 189 t...

Re: 1st Generation Ladybug appears lilac/purple... Name that color?

Welcome to the forums petey2020! If my memory serves me well the SKU is LBL and stands for Ladybug Blue ... a simple blue. Yes, that is the factory blue Ladybug Gen 1. The blue does tend to fade over time. I have some NIB G1 LBs stashed somewhere in a box of "Little Black Box Spydies;" me...

Re: Lil Chokwe

The Lil Chokwe will be a dandy complement to the regular size version for those all-too-common times where blade length restrictions are encountered. One of my reg-sized CWs has lost some length over the years due to frequent use and sharpening--but not that much as above ;-) (it is kind of beat to ...

Great! a Spyderco sprint release coffee cup, from which I can spill coffee onto my official Spyderco shirts when I read Bloke's (and others') posts!
