First Thread

I used the Deacon's method and found my first thread started on the 24th July 2000. I was asking for help in buying an Evrina Moki on eBay. The upshot was that Sal gave me an unbelievably generous deal on this Moki scrimmed by Linda Karst. Part of the deal was that I wouldn't sell it, as if :D . che...

I remember

G'day John, Nice to see you here again. How have you been? Chinook was another of the early members and my mate Ferret (who I must catch up with). Can anyone remember the name of the bloke who moderated for a while and then had to sell all his Spydies? Blades was another early member who I still PM ...

G'day Dan, I've been around here from the very beginning, although I don't post as much as I used to. Not spending as much on Spydies as I used to either, three high maintenance kids will do that to you :( . I'm in Sydney also, perhaps we could organise a 'show and tell' for the Sydney brothers. che...

Oops

Should have known better than to post without doing a search. Found my answer in this thread Thanx FedRich, Welcome to the Spyderco forum. The question is far more complicated than you might think. If we put it on the spine of the handle, it will block the lock and unlockinbg would be difficult. Wou...

Tusk

Some time ago there was talk of a prototype sailor's knife called the 'Tusk' designed be Eric IIRC. It seems to have slipped off the radar and I'm wondering if it is ever likely to reach production. I'm just about to shell out for a Boye Cobalt folder but would rather wait for a H1 :spyder: . I thin...

Sorry, senior moment, I've edited the post. I'd love to get her to scrim a Kopa for me but I fear her price as well as the cost of shipping both ways would be prohibitive, especially now that our dollar has taken a plunge :( .

Moki Evrina

Here are a couple of pictures of my Moki Evrina also scrimmed by Linda Karst. The Evrina takes scrimshaw really well. I just wish I could afford to get a Kopa scrimmed.

Thanks Kristi, that is good news. I've brought in many packages through USPS and the service has always been very reliable and fast. Only problem now is that the Aussie dollar has dropped so much it may be a while before I can afford to buy anything :( . I don't suppose you can do anything about tha...

IIRC Eric designed a prototype sailing knife, called the Tusk, some time ago. Not sure why it hasn't gone any further but I'd put my hand up for one in a flash.

Thanks

Thank folks for your well wishes. I've been away for a week and only caught up with this thread this morning. Two things made this birthday special. The first was that I spent it on Fraser Island off the coast of Queensland. At 123km long by 22km wide it is the largest sand island in the world and a...

That Linda Karst set really deserves a good home :) . I have the larger knife and it is one of my most treasured possessions. Here are a couple of pictures of mine in case anyone hasn't seen them before.

Lost Santoku

I'm a simple man with simple tastes :D . I don't drink or smoke (anymore ;) ), like to paddle my kayak on my day off, and like nothing better than pottering around the kitchen whipping up a stir fry or a stew. My Santoku was one of my oldest :spyder: 's and one of my favourites. I even had a kydex s...

Hi Jens,

It's great to have you aboard here. I recall a very pleasant couple of days wandering around Aarhus back in 1973 as part of the " great European adventure" that most young Aussies do. Just one more reason to buy a Rock Lobster, as if I needed one :) .
