I like basic black, as do, I suspect, most buyers.
^^ This.. A black handle knife, black car and Armani suits will never go out of style.

Re: Pobody’s Nerfect! Para 3 calamity.

I own three "oopsies" personally.. A "AUS8A" Delica (There is no AUS8 'A')
A Centofante with the "Foreign" Pat. stamp and the third one, a D'Allara in a box with Catchernan printed on the box, overpainted with a sharpie and the correct sticker.

Re: Chap LW idea

Micarta or Pakkawood would be an insta-buy Absolutely YES to both. Micarta even more than Pakkawood. And the good thing: Could well come true, couldn't it? After all the Chap was established as THE model to display different handle materials on the always same knife-design, right? Indeed, and I hav...

Re: Chap LW idea

I'm allergic to GITD personally. I would never buy one. That said, if it would make (more) people notice and appreciate the Chap so be it.
Me? I'd be over the moon over a wood or micarta scale really classy Chap since that's what they are about for me :)

Re: PC Immersion Cooling

Or buy a Mac and only ever hear the fan kick in once every blue moon :) Depends on what you do with it. I'm a big mac fan (I've owned apples since the early 80's and only went to a PC twice during that time, always coming back to apple), but I definitely get my Macs hot every now and then. Video re...

Mike: What's wrong with the old British/Jaguar naming standard 'MkII' :) I mean, Sal himself is fond of car terms/parallels (Spyder in Spyderco)

Re: Eric Glesser breaks down the Para 3 LW!

If you can't beat the unnecessary disassembling crowd, join them I guess.. Cue plastic bags with more or less complete part collections dropping in at HQ soon. And up the production of spare screws.

Re: Ikuchi - fantastic knife!

It would be interesting to hear what my fellow Amsterdam meet attendees have to say. Personally i didn't notice anything negative on the specimen showed at the meet.
Of course i am not saying people's issues are imaginary, just curious.

Re: Your Spyderco Drawer - Show & Tell

I too, prefer using stands instead of cases. I like being able to see them, out in their glory and making the difficult decision each morning on which to carry. This doesn't include my "beater knives" Resized_20190314_174327.jpeg I have debated on a different type of case though as my stepdaughter ...

Re: Ikuchi with titanium scales and CTS-XHP?

It deserves wooden scales. I am quite indifferent as to what steel. It could be VG10 as far as i am concerned. I think so too! As soon as I can get the extra cash to buy an Ikuchi, I'll be trying my hand at making a set. Just gotta get the old lady to loosen the purse strings(on my money...) I have...

This forum represents a very small percentage of knife users, but also seems to draw in one of, if not THE smallest portion of knife users; the more "nerdy" type. There are sports nerds, car nerds, and nerds for every interest you can imagine. They are numbers-driven, performance-oriented people, m...

Doing precision routing in tiny little slabs of wood that haven't been stabilized with resin—and then getting them screwed together before they had a chance to warp—would be a nightmare for a production knifemaker.
Does the Ikuchi have nested/countersunk liners? Now *that* would be a nightmare..

Re: Ikuchi with titanium scales and CTS-XHP?

It deserves wooden scales. I am quite indifferent as to what steel. It could be VG10 as far as i am concerned. Now that's an interesting idea. There aren't many Spyderco knives with wooden scales. I remember Sal chimed in about the difficulty in using wood (not Pakkawood); I think he said something...
