Re: Zome + Super Blue Sprint!
The Caly jr blade would look really cool with a stainless outer clad and line for the inner steel one that will patina over time ...pretty sure that Moki (maker of the Caly Jr.) works in solid SB only, while Sakai (the Delica etc. family) prefers the laminate. Sakai has been getting more flexible a...

Re: Zome + Super Blue Sprint!
I'd be interested to know if anyone is actually buying these... seems like lots of Spydiefolk may be taking a pass on this one? If this had been released eight years ago, I'd have expected the community to snap them all up quickly, but now there doesn't even seem to be another thread up discussing i...

Zome + Super Blue Sprint!
The original Super Blue full Sakai series Sprint was released right at the beginning of my serious Spyderco addiction and I only managed to grab a Manbug and Stretch before they were all gone, since the Delica and D'Fly sold through quickly in true Sprint run fashion (thought back then it was days o...

Re: We don't actually need to Magnacut *all* the knives
I feel like MagnaCut will be the truly stainless complement to CruWear, for those wanting a "best compromise" steel that favors corrosion resistance over sharpening response. I have yet to sharpen my N5 Salt enough to know if I like it well enough to think about getting duplicate knives in...

Re: PM 2 Cru Carta color
I know what you mean, my copy has one light scale and one dark. The darker side seems to be more saturated with resin than the lighter side. I think it's just variation in the material. https://i.imgur.com/hkv0U0r.jpg https://i.imgur.com/eHdruDS.jpg This can also depend on exactly where the grind/c...

Re: Purpose of a Business?
Both my parents founded successful businesses, and i think you hit on something important. People working for that business need to be invested in it’s success. Which is achieved through respect, reward, and investment in worker’s well Being. I have worked for good and bad startups and have managed...

Re: High Performance Delica Excitement
I think a steel in the AEB-L range at high hardness would be an excellent candidate for this model in the future. Thanks for posting that. When us Non-SMEs post something like that we get the ol' evil eye. You, as a known SME, will carry more weight when you post about AEB-L. I agree on both points...

Re: The Edge is (no longer) a Ghost
My method for setting a bevel right to the plunge, is to use an EZE-LAP medium or coarse 1"x6" hone in my Hapstone (Edge Pro knockoff) system. These "stones" are made with diamond grit fused into a steel base, rather than plated on like most other metal diamond hones, this means ...

Re: I’m an indecisive giant. Millie vs Chief!
. I do feel that the Chief has an advantage in grip security when used in the forward grip, but that's the only edge it has IMO. Four way clip, thinner BTE, much more compact when closed, much more comfortable when choked up......Chief offers a lot more than grip security in this context.... You're...

Re: Why is the PM2 more popular when the Manix 2 is objectively better?
Also, why is the g10 manix so much cheaper than a g10 pm2?.......hmmmm I'd wager that the tolerances required to have perfect function in a compression lock are more demanding, as is the precision needed to produce that awesome distal taper to a very fine tip that the PM series feature. Thicker bla...

Re: I’m an indecisive giant. Millie vs Chief!
While the Military has almost as much handle as the Native Chief, it feels much more natural in hand and allows a significantly more secure "long hold" than the Chief. I do feel that the Chief has an advantage in grip security when used in the forward grip, but that's the only edge it has ...

Re: Hitachi White Steel
Blue super is mostly soft iron carbide with a little tungsten carbide. I don't think it's surprising that it doesn't handle cutting into silica infused paper very well. Chef's knives are a bit of a different use case. I'd be interested to know your blue super pocket knifes do in utility knife tasks...

Re: Hitachi White Steel
....another consideration here that hasn't really been brought up in depth is that all of these low alloy steels get their "goodness" from high hardness and fine microstructure. In a folder that will almost certainly get harsher use than a traditional Japanese kitchen knife, the higher har...

Re: Hitachi White Steel
...... Super Blue is a carbon steel that I think is cool, but I am surprised it didn't fair to well in CATRA testing. I know of pro chefs who have used Aogami Super (Japanese for Super Blue) for 6 months straight in a high volume kitchen without needing to resharpen. Just a fun steel whatever the c...

Re: High Performance Delica Excitement
I’m in. If the concept is popular it’d be cool to see a second run in a simple steel like super blue or aeb-l. Reading through old Cliff Stamp posts got me curious about simpler steels, and how a really stable steel ground thin and with a low edge angle would stack up against modern PM steels. Seem...

Re: Men's Belts?
Wide belts, watch bands and wrist bands without a watch, in black leather and sporting a double row of holes were definitely a thing in the mid to late 70s as I recall.
Nothing inherently wrong with that style, I just didn't love it then and had no choice but to wear it...

Re: Attn: Kristi! bold Ebay seller claims 2x Para exclusive Ebay only
The attached snip of my Ebay messaging doesn't seem to scale well in some browsers, so here's a plain text version (modified so that it's in the correct order): 1) me: Which supplier commissioned this Exclusive? 2)seller: Why do you ask ? 3)me: Because if they aren't an exclusive they're fake. 4)sel...
