Re: Protection while walking
If I had to choose one thing for walking or hiking, I would select a hiking stick or staff. You can cut your own from a sapling or branch. Crepemyrtle make good ones. It should be long enough to come up to about the middle of the ear. In addition to providing protection from undesirable critters, it...

Re: Where can I get some pocket clips custom made for these Spydercos?
Spyderco will replace broken integral FRN clips with metal clips for $20 plus $5 shipping according to the warranty information. Don't know if they would put metal clips on custom scales.

Re: Sharp Edges on Spyder Hole
In another life, I bought a Cratex kit of rubberized abrasives in assorted points, cones, cylinders in four textures. Used them on my Endura and Delica 25 years ago to polish the opening hole smooth to the thumb. Looks nice, too.

Received my Police SE today. I thought my Schempp Bowie was big. Holy Spyderhole, Batman. The Police would make Crocodile Dundee happy. It is one big folding knife.

The broad blade on the Tenacious allowed me to grasp the spine and control the carving, gouging, cutting, chipping and scoring on this watermelon. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-y0zNukcMxjQ/VY7sUP5lh6I/AAAAAAAAkpM/13S0Z2OI42A/s800-Ic42/IMG_1157.JPG Also, chicks dig big blades. "Is that your...

Re: Crazy deals @ Sierra and other places
I think that I may have just purchased one of the last Spyderco knives at Sierra Trading Post, the Police SE G-10 VG-10. 40% off and free shipping brought the MSRP of $249.95 down to $101.97. Spyderco stories are like real estate stories. There are only two kinds. The one I bought and the one I shou...

Have not done much skinning myself, but have helped Cousin Dave and his son process half a dozen feral swine at a time. (We have a corral trap and have caught as many as 22 at one time. I give the rest to a local fellow.) They each have several knives and bring their sharpening stone with them to fr...

Hah! Right you are. I wouldn't have even attempted that one. We have those here also. I was wondering where you're at then noticed he Schempp Bowie stabbed in an oak tree and guessed you had to be in Texas too. And you are! The spider in your picture appears to be a grass spider also known as a fun...

That's not a spider. This is a spider.
Known as a signature spider or garden spider.
