Re: Please recommend a decent little flashlight

For anyone looking for a quality and economical headlamp, check out the following thread. I have been interested in this headlamp for several months, and this sale was the final push for me to order one.

Re: What "Other" is in your pocket???

I got my first Kershaw ever, a Rove that was $16.95 shipped from KnifeCenter. In fact, this is the first non-Spyderco I have ordered in probably 10 years. It's also my first flipper, although its SpeedSafe opening uses a torsion bar. Solid construction, good heft, simple liner lock, and easily sharp...

Re: Now's the time: For a New Hawkbill!!!

Speaking to Shawn & CrazyWednesday concerning both your new Crossbill folders. First of all congratulations are in order for adding another great hawkbill to your Spyder-Arsenals  . But it won't be too long where you won't be content with a Byrd model and will want to progress to a high e...

Good point, which I will keep in mind if I ever start working around water. :)

Re: Now's the time: For a New Hawkbill!!!

Crazywednesday, I also recently got a Byrd Hawkbill, which is my first hawkbill. I totally agree about its quality and value, and I look forward to using it around the house. Based on my first impression, I cannot justify spending 3-4 times more for a Spydie version. I absolutely adore the Byrd Hawk...

Re: UKPK thoughts. PIC HEAVY

Now that I have this wealth of UKPKs, I was thinking about doing a multi-way blade swap. I searched around and it looks like it should work as long as I keep the proper spring with the ffg blade. If anyone has experience and can confirm, it would be much appreciated. Blade swap works when you keep ...

Re: Where's the Caly Jr. sprint? Would you still buy one?

I would buy one only if it was changed to tip up with wire clip, since I sold all my Caly Jrs after my preferences changed due to falling in love with the Caly 3 / UKPK series.

Re: We know what you mean...but still

How about a commonly used term on this forum and similar ones? Everyday vs. every day . "Everyday" means commonplace, normal, or ordinary, whereas "every day" means "each day." For example, I wear my everyday carry (EDC) knife and flashlight whenever I wear clothes, whi...

Re: UKPK blade and spring swap question

Yes, Liquid Cobra, as shown via the pic. However, in my samples, the kick and tang of the older version blade is different from the FFG version, so the forked spring only works with the FFG blade. If you mix the blade and spring, the blade will not fully seat in the scales upon closing, which is a s...

Re: Spyderco slip its are growing on me

I have carried my FFG FRN leaf-blade UKPK so much since I got it 3 months ago that carrying my G10 Caly 3 feels kind of strange now due to its extra weight.

Re: Swappability questions about the UKPK

I wasn't aware of any of the FFG models having scales available in anything but black. Can you see the split in the lock bar when the blade is closed? Hi Donut. Sorry for the confusion. My FFG model does have black scales and the forked backspring. I just want to mod the FFG model to have gray scal...

Re: Swappability questions about the UKPK

To clarify the reason for my first question, I am interested in swapping the scales of a gray HG model with those of a FG model, so that the FG model has gray scales and the forked backspring.

Thank you for the feedback. I have emailed customer service and will provide an update.

Swappability questions about the UKPK

Are the handles and blades of the FFG versions swappable with the earlier HG versions?

Does the SFO sell the forked backsprings separately? I would like to replace the original backspring in an earlier UKPK version.

Thank you!

Re: Who else EDC's a UK Pen?

I have been EDCing a black FRN UKPK with FFG leaf blade for a couple of months now, and I now find it incredibly challenging to even carry my next favorite, the Caly 3. The UKPK is so lightweight and fits my hand perfectly that I cannot do without it. My cutting chores are very slight (mainly envelo...

...And frankly one of the things that people forget is that most one hand opening knives require two hands to close. So often you have cut something and are holding what has been cut with one hand and you can close the non-locking blade several ways, most with just one hand... Which one-hand-openin...

araneae, thank you for the feedback. If you haven't done so already, try the firefly mode in a dark room after your eyes have adapted to the dark. I find that mode perfect for navigating around the family at night.

Saber 1A is my fave!

I have the Ti, T10, and Saber 1A models, which have all worked reliably for me. The Saber has been my favorite EDC light since I installed a Stylus Pro clip (via some stretching and epoxy) and a lanyard on it. The 3 modes, especially firefly, combined with mode memory are perfect for my needs. I occ...
