Ah thanks. I guess the one I traded for is gen 1. When is the next batch coming out, and where do I get one?

Where? I don't think I follow you. There are no liners in the Ti Military, as far as I know. There will eventually be a steel insert at the end of the lockbar. But if you're rusting the pivots, that is more or less academic. I meant the engagement point of the lockbar. Similar to the g10/ti version...

At some point, but AFAIK not yet, the Ti Military will also get the lockbar insert that the Ti/G10/CPM-M4 has. If Talonturbo has problems with rust on the pivot, he may need to look at fixed blade knives??? ;) Wait, so there's no metal insert in the all ti version?? I hope that's not the case. BTW,...

I don't think people really understood your question: Both liners on the G10 linerlock Military variants are stainless steel. So yes, corrosion could occur on the non-lock side liner if you made a G10/Ti Military of your own. Thanks. I guess I could have written that much more clearly. I guess the ...

Bringing this back up because of a question: Is the NON-LOCK side liner also steel?? I sold my last millie (CF/BG42) because I have corrosive sweat and couldn't keep the thing from rusting. I'd have to dismantle it and clean the rust from the pivot just to get it to open and close again...way too of...

Am I asking too much if I'm dying to know what kind of lock the TUFF will have??

That was the reason for not getting a Captain. Thanks.

And in terms of defensive knife measures, if the knife comes out it's not because I'm trying to hurt my attacker or make him consider another target. It's because I want him off me NOW and will do anything necessary. The most effective way to do this is a stabbing motion, not a swing/slice. I'd take...

You guys covered many of the reasons a sharp knife may or may not cut well, but I didn't see anyone looking at the blade from a different direction. The profile. The more the angle of attack changes as it hits the material, the more the cut is effortlessly performed "one molecule at a time"...

I was actually trying to keep costs out of the review/comparison with the exception where I specifically addressed the elevated costs to bring one to market.

Those people who are asking me why I posted this should have shame...I've learned a lot about Striders and understand why people are paying premiums now. Good. Information is power. Not all Striders will be worth it to everyone, but some will meet some people's needs perfectly. But just like Spyder...

Summary

To summarize, I don’t like Striders for their looks. I like them because they accomplish what I need them to with the least amount of fuss and the most confidence. My “perfect blade” is a Nightmare recurve. Again, based on function, not looks. I don’t even want my knives to look tactical. My MSC SMF...

Price

In terms of price, I should shed some light. Much more goes into factoring the cost, wholesale price and retail price of a product than the actual materials in the product itself. My automotive engineering program obviously covered manufacturing techniques and costs. G-10 and backspacer are one piec...

Use Examples

The sad reality is that knives keep getting used as prybars because they do it so well. Why limit yourselves? Discover the possibilities and you can’t look back. Ever. I’ve done tasks with a SnG that I knew would have broken my Para. I was later faced with the identical task again. This time I had t...

EDC Compromises

However, for EDC duties, I find myself needing a knife that can in fact cut, but do much more as well. I have found myself too many times with a knife for slicing, wishing I weren’t about to snap it but knowing the need is more important than the knife at the time. My most delicate daily cutting inv...

Hard Use Mentality

I used to be careful about “knives are for cutting”. Spyderco’s did all the cutting chores I asked of them. Then I got curious. I think it started with a SMF. You hold it, and realize that it’s solid. Not that other knives weren’t. But this one really is different. You play with it. You get hooked. ...
