Re: PM2 steel, only one knife

PM2 is my favorite carry. At least once I put copper scales on it to add some heft. S110V blade on mine. Keeps edge very well. Have had no corrosion issues, without babying it. Pretty easy to keep sharp, so long as I do little touchups regularly. I don't go very fine with the stones, as I like a bit...

Re: LC200N Pac Salt SE on the way

I’m a little curious about everyone’s preference for SE in the marine environment. Why SE? ..... More aggressive cutting of whatever is why I like it. Also I don't need to baby the edge to keep it cutting, compared to a plain edge. Some folks may also have gone SE in the Salts due to the H1 edge su...

Re: What do you want in a new Salt knife?

Perhaps something like a PM2 all in H1 or LC200N, including the scales to give it the heft I like. Partially serrated blade,,,, PE front and SE rear. Is the SE section would be in a recurve section, all the better.

Re: LC200N Pac Salt SE on the way

So it arrived. Sharp and aggressive cutting with the serrations. Good! Not crazy about the green color of the scales, but is what it is. Certainly feels lighter, thinner, and less substantial in the hand than I recall my old Pac Salt in H1 being. Personally, I like thicker and heavier knives, so thi...

LC200N Pac Salt SE on the way

Went fishing yesterday. Couldn't find my old H1 Pac Salt to take along. Perhaps it sprouted legs. Poking around this morning to replace it, noticed it is in LC200N now as well. Looked all over online to see if there was anything definitive on which was better, H1 or LC200N, but nothing decisive note...

Re: UKPK S110V Drop Point?

Now that I think a bit more on it, LC200N might get my $$$ over and above S110V. Simply because with a travel knife, being very rustproof would be nice.

Re: UKPK S110V Drop Point?

Saw an Amazon listing for the UK penknife drop point in S110V. Looking closer, it is not actually S110V but is the regular BD1N steel. Had my hopes up for a bit,,,, dashed upon looking closer. I like 110V but simply don't like the leaf shaped blades in carry or usage. My Manix in S110V just sits in ...

Re: So what's your top 3 favorite steels? and why?

S110V is my edc. Never had a long session sharpening it, because I touch it up a lot. No staining or corrosion ever noted. PM2 with solid copper scales to give it some heft, has been my everyday choice most of the last 2 years. H1 for the other toys used in the yard and fishing. I don't keep those p...

Re: What’s your favorite or most used Spyderco?

Was my Manix in S110V. Liked the lock, but didn't like the blade shape. Since I got a PM2 in S110V, replaced the scales with heavier copper ones, and added a deep clip, it has been my EDC when not traveling. Traveling I alternate between a various slip joint knifes: PITS, UKPK, a Terzuola Clip, a SO...

Re: Future plans for the UKPK?

UKPK drop point in something like H1, with blade serrated in lower section only. UKPK value to me is as a travel knife for blade unfriendly places. Often comes out in restaurants that give me a steak knife unable to easily cut butter. Have multiple knives I cycles thru, but either a PITS, a Terzuloa...

Picked up 2 of them. Just back from Seoul and the package was waiting for me.
Thanks for bringing them back, even as a sprint. Should serve nicely trimming stuff in the yard.

Re: What's your favorite steel?

H1. No maintenance worries and sharpens easily. Can take it everywhere and abuse it.
More of a hassle when it needs sharpening, but s110v tends to be my pocket knife that doesn't get abused

Re: Hawkbills versus Reverse S Blades

If by reverse s you mean like the Civilian,,,, in that case, I'd personally say S, not reverse S. Tip and front for stabbing and cutting, belly in the back for ice controlled cuts on things like rope/twine. Is my favorite type of blade. Is a compromise, but merges the two most useful features to me ...

Re: Salt Series UKPK

Sorta. Right thought with a folding blade on each end. But the locks are a no-no when travelling lots of places. A hawk or recurved blade on the serrated one would be more helpful too

Re: Salt Series UKPK

Heh... so multiple threads on this thought. As I said on the other, I like the drop point shape better than the leaf. Then I wondered. At home I often carry a pair of knives with different blade shapes. Only time I found a single blade I liked for most everything was an S shaped blade with a gullet ...

Re: Future plans for the UKPK?

Hi Foofie, We're working on a Salt version. Heat treating the spring is challenging. What is it you (or others) would like to see? sal Great. Asked for something like that some months ago. H1 and non-locking for a carefree travel knife. If looking at same blade profiles offered before in UKPK, I mu...

Re: Salt Series UKPK

Well when I look at non-locking folding knives in the Spyderco site online product listing, only the leaf shaped version is listed and priced. Even though the picture at top of the page shows the drop point version. So it is available, but perhaps not in production. I already have that one in BD1 an...

Re: Salt Series UKPK

Whether H1 or LC200N, I don't think any of the slipit knives use those steels. Too bad, as the UKPK is one of the knives I like to toss in the travel case when traveling, to avoid potential legal issues. Doesn't get well cared for, so H1 or LC200N would be fitting. Of the UKPK's, I've liked the drop...

Re: What do you think of the Titanium K2 model?

Seems like after something is discontinued, I wish I'd bought one. So I picked up a pair of K2's when they were having fire sales. My S110V Manix 2 still always finds its way into my pocket most of the time. The K2 is more a stmt/showoff piece than an everyday knife for me. Great knife, but beyond m...

Re: Does anyone EDC a slipit, if so what are your reasons? Pros/cons. Thanks in advance

When overseas, I have several I tend to pick from. A Spyderco Terzuola slipit is easily my favorite now. #2 is a UKPK drop point. Usually have an SAK in my bag too. But the Terzuola is the one I carry now. #1 use for me is when I am out eating. Seems most restaurants only like to give patrons knives...
