Based on my own experience I´d rather use the name SharpKEEPER instead of SharpMAKER. The reason is simple: whenever material really has to be removed Sharpmaker just doesn´t cut :) it. Due to my Scandinavian knife background I always remove the secondary bevel ASAP and aim for a very thin convex ed...

I got my first self-inflicted major puukko cut at the age of five and have been using a puukko or knife ever since :) My son got his puukko at the age of - you guessed right - five years.

I´ve studied the trademark question every once in while and as I understand it - which may be quite wrong, so please forgive me - The Original Spyderco patent US4347665 of 1982 shows "...indention or depression..." and later "...indentation 34...", not a hole in the blade. Thus, ...

From the engineering point of view, a knife bearing is no different from any other bearing i.e. it REQUIRES lubrication for smooth operation and waterproof grease just the ticket. Non-lubricated folder is like running a car engine w/o oil, it will fail.

Would it be possible to get even one picture of a Spyderco in actual USE, preferably in well used condition, beaten and repeatedly sharpened? All the pix seem to be of safe queens...as if Spydercos actually weren´t TOOLS?
