Re: I only have a few knives, but I'm happy. Am I crazy?

Not crazy. I have a handful of knives (OK, a generous handful, but we're talking 10 not 100), each of which serves its purpose, and I'm completely content with them. 95% of the time I'm carrying one of my 4 favorites (FRN and Ti Pingos, FRN Urban, and the truly excellent Chaparral). I completely get...

Re: Pingo Ti

It's been a couple of months so it seems like time for an update! As expected the Ti scales on mine are showing normal signs of use, which is no big deal. Interestingly the anodized "bug" still looks 100% blemish-free. That makes sense since oxides are so hard. Fully anodized or even nitri...

Re: Top reasons to always carry a knife? What are yours?

I started carrying a knife when I got sick of having to go look for one every time I needed it.

Re: Pingo Ti

I've been carrying this knife pretty much non-stop since I got it. The only down-side is that, as expected, the Ti scales scratch and scuff every time you look at them wrong. I was getting away with it until the one time I dropped it in my pocket with my keys. My plan is to just roll with it and hop...

I don't foresee myself doing any knife shopping for a while but a G10 (or even CF?) UKPK in XHP or similar is the one thing I wish I could buy new.

Re: What are ya drinkin????

I just drank a bottle of this, which I brewed earlier in the year. I don't always get along with Belgian beer (sometimes too sweet for me) but this one works.

Nice. It's a shame you can't train one of those. You'd never have to paddle anywhere ever again.

Re: Knife Rights Wins 2 in New York; 3rd Win Blocked by Senate Republicans!

It's disappointing. I think part of the problem is that a majority of upstate knife owners (nevermind citizens in general) don't even realize there's a problem. We don't see the same kind of abusive arrests (yet) and it wouldn't even dawn on most casual knife owners that a common pocket knife might ...

Re: VERY URGENT NEW YORK ACTION ALERT – CALL RIGHT NOW! Time is Running Out!

The bill didn't come up on the docket for today (unless I missed it somehow) but it looks like the Senate just extended their session into tomorrow. Granted, when I checked in to their live stream they were busy congratulating each other at length about something that I couldn't find on the agenda, ...

Re: Do Phospherous Bronze washers ever wear out?

I can't see phosphor bronze washers ever wearing out as long as one keeps a little oil on them. I don't think most people would crank down on their pivots to the point that compressive loads would be all that high, and that plus cycles are what cause wear. OTOH I could easily see myself losing one d...

I appreciate the update (not to mention the time and energy already spent). I had already sent an email, anyway, so I guess I'll keep my fingers crossed until further notice.

Has the effort been declared dead? The Senate is in session tomorrow afternoon but everything related to it has been pulled from the KnifeRights website.

Re: English Anti Knife Law: INSANE!

It's amazing what fear, ignorance, and politics can do where they intersect. There seems to be a basic assumption that the only reason anyone would ever carry a knife is intent to harm someone. It's both absurd and sad that people think so little of one another.

Re: Pingo Ti

It turns out that the TiMax Pingo incorporates what I can only assume to be phosphor bronze washers to keep the pivot working smoothly. (Let's not explore how I know that and instead accept that I now take extra precautions to ensure the cleanliness and oiling of my knives.)

Re: Pingo Ti

You might be right about anodizing the entire thing. I think you just need the appropriate chemical (mild acid?) bath and DC power supply. I bet the scales would look great tumbled as well. But I'm with you...no plan to mess with it.

The blade on mine clears the scales by a mile.

Re: Pingo Ti

They did a really nice job matching the scales to the back spring. I'll also mention that spring force feels just right to me. Strong but not ridiculously so. TiMaxPingo_8.JPG I maintain that perfection of blade centering is an irrelevant and silly thing to worry about (just my opinion). But this is...
