pain to sharpen SE blades?

All I have is the Sharpmaker. Are SE blades a real pain to sharpen? Also, do you sharpen both sides. I've seen the Atlantic Salt, and it appears the edge only sharp on the side with the serrations? Maybe it just looks that way. Finally, are SE hawkbills (or hawkbills in general) hard to sharpen?

Re: Good kayak knife?

I have cut a lot of sea turtles loose from fishing line, and braided line, and all sorts else. The atlantic salt really is the best option for that. Problem is the pacific salt is better at being a general purpose knife. Honest advice, get both. LOL, that's probably what will happen. I like the loo...

Re: Spydie vs Bugout

Agree 100%. It's annoying that I've had to buy aftermarket clips for some of my Spydies. Their wire clips are better, but a few of mine don't feel very secure (they move around if I try to wiggle them). OTOH, that clip on the BO is fantastic. I like the Spydie hole better than a stud, but that's rea...

Re: Good kayak knife?

Pacific and Atlantic both look good. Not sure if I want a sharp or blunt tip though? The blunt seems like a better idea for a marine environment. The Pacific Salt is already a pretty blunt tip. For my on water uses I don’t find it any more dangerous than something like an Atlantic Salt. I actually ...

Re: Good kayak knife?

A knife for use on a kayak you say?? Let me think... 17CFED20-7FD2-4CCF-BA53-ADA246601A6F.jpeg hahaha! this post seems like a joke, but just in case it’s not, i definitely recommend the pacific salt with a serrated edge for use on the water and surfingringo designed the siren as his knife to use as...

Siren or Pacific Salt.

Thanks. Probably good to get SE? I was kind of thinking of a hawkbill.

Re: Spydie vs Bugout

I've got one, and ya know, I kinda like it, but, the difference between something like the bugout and native 5 lw or chapparal lw, is the bugout is just kind of a cool knife to have on your pocket, it's kind of fun, but there's nothing about it that makes me feel like it's a purposely designed seri...

Good kayak knife?

Any recommendations for a good knife to bring along when kayaking? I normally want small and light, but in this case, I don't really care. Something with a 3-4" blade would probably be ideal. As far as the lock, I like lockbacks. Thanks :)

Re: Spydie vs Bugout

Don't personally own a Bugout, but I have handled a few, and I like the platform. I find it falls into a really great size and weight category for EDC, but just haven't pulled the trigger on one. Out of the spydie catalogue, the one that competes with the Bugout (in my opinion) is the Chaparral FRN...

Re: Spydie vs Bugout

This may be a better post for the off-topic forum, but I do have a question about the Bugout. I do like the Benchmade Axis lock, but always felt like they'd ruined it on the the original 530 Mel Pardue by making it ultralight. Now that it's 10 years later and we're up to the 535 Bugout (and the lar...

Re: Spydie vs Bugout

I've read other reviews where people said they didn't want to like the BO, and now I totally understand. I didn't want to, either, but it looks to be right up my alley. It's definitely not for heavy duty, but for a light, thin EDC, it nails it. The price sucks, especially for the exclusive version, ...

Spydie vs Bugout

Just wondering if any of you guys have a Benchmade Bugout, and how you like it compared to your Spydies. I really resisted buying one because I read a few bad things about them (the spring, mainly), and I'm also not fond of Benchmade's seemingly anti-2A activities, but I figured what the heck. I thi...

the yo2 is an excellent wharncliffe... just saying. :)
I have the Yo2. Sweet knife, but it's pretty beefy. I worry I might scare the sheeple if I ever used it in public.

Re: Lil Native Lightweight?

Sounds good to me! I love my N5 LW. I prefer backlocks for all carry blades, due to their closing bias. Wire clip would be great, too!

Re: Wharncliffe blade: Delica or Salt 2?

The tuff lite is great for the money. I agree with the meat man. Serrations should be the deciding factor. Thanks, I was thinking plain edge. I'm gonna give the Tuff Lite a try. Seems like a really solid knife for 30 bucks. I do like my Spydies, but I feel like a lot of them are a bit more $$ than ...

Wharncliffe blade: Delica or Salt 2?

Which would you choose? I already have the DF2 Wharn, but looking for a bit larger while still staying lightweight. As far as other brands go, that Cold Steel Tuff Lite looks interesting for the price, but the steel is only AUS-8.

Re: DF2 Pakkawood impressions

I love the Seki Pakkawood models. However, I sold my G10 DF2 for the same reason... the extra weight kinda kills the magic of the DF2 for me. The Delica Pakkawood was one of my most carried knives in the office, loose in pocket with my keys. After about a year of carry the Pakkawood still looks lik...

Re: DF2 Pakkawood impressions

My only other gripe is the steel liners. The edges feel pretty sharp when I run my finger along them. Probably sharp enough to cut my finger if I purposely tried, but there doesn't seem to be any danger of doing it accidentally. Not huge deal, but at this price point, I feel like they could've smoo...
