I am a huge Spyderco fan, although I have not visited this forum for a long time. I'm not an expert on knives or sharpening, so I am hoping I can get some really basic advice. I have:

The edges coming from spyderco these days are pretty crazy. I have had a wicked edge for two years and have a hard time matching. Not trying to discourage you but just saying that some of these edges set a high bar for initial sharpness.

I am still learning though and no master by any ...

I have two Sharpmakers, an older one in a fabric pouch that only has one angle and a newer one in a plastic case that has two angles. Thanks, guys. It turns out I ordered the wrong thing and now I have 4 of the regular white ones - probably a lifetime supply!

Let me ask a follow-up question: How do you like the ultra-fine rods? Do they make a big difference on a pocket knife?
