Re: Karambits: Your opinions?
Never saw a need for one because as mentioned, they really aren't very utilitarian. As far as a SD Weapon they might work if the user can deploy it and use it without hurting themselves in the process. Using any knife in a SD situation takes a lot of Mental Training as well as Physical Training. I a...

Re: Small Byrd
I have a Robin 2 & like the size. It's my house knife that I keep in my lounging pants. It's probably really close in size to the D-fly. The FRN has a decent grip and I removed the pocket clip because it just don't need it IMO.
Re: Benchmade
I currently have a Mini-Grip 555 that has the "Butter-Hole" & no thumb studs. I like it a lot and recently handled one with the studs (BM556) and it seemed pretty cool. I like a few of the Colors on some their scale too, the ODG looks Pretty Awesome and it would be my next one if I eve...

Re: What "Other" is in your pocket???
Today it's a SOG Fielder Black Blade w/ Camo G-10 scales. It's one of my budget "Thrasher Blades" that is Usually in my right front pocket, as my Black & Camo PM2 is Always in my left front pocket!

Re: Question about the Byrd line
I own two Byrd knives and I like the opening hole on them just as much as the Spydie-Hole. The Robin 2 Serrated (BY10SBK2) is my "House Pants" [read: sweats] knife and the other is an older Meadowlark Rescue (BY19SBK) and it is in my bunker gear to cut people out of seat belts if I need to...

Re: Best for arthritis? (Take Him Shopping...)
I would say take him to the knife counter with you some day on the pretense that you are shopping for a new blade (for yourself) and have him handle the ones that you think he may like or ask him his opinion of some of them. Don't know if this helps, but that's what I would do.

That would be my Bushcraft UK, because that means I'm out hiking or camping in the hills or at the lake fishing and that makes me happy!

Re: Balancing cutting tasks and edge retention? Or would should I not cut with my knife ?
I see knife reviewers cutting all kinds of things such as aluminum cans and such. It's been my observation that Video Knife Reviewers will try almost anything to push the limits of a knife or destroy a blade so the general public will know how tough (or weak) the tool is. I have a Bushcraft UK that...

:spyder: Swag from my weekend trip to MECCA. Came home and decided it would look better on my PM2 than on my BC-UK. Simple, Yet Elegant don't you think? Thanks for the replies. If I make it to MECCA, I will be taking some pic's for sure and one (or all) of them will be entered into the following weekly photo contest(s). I'm looking forward to it and just hope the weather holds steady for my trip. I'll post about my experience when I get home, if I c...

VISIONS of MECCA...&...SWAG!
SpydercoCaption-101.jpg I'm going to be in the Denver area this weekend and hopefully get a chance to visit the showroom and get a couple of my Spydie's factory re-sharpened. I won't have any trouble finding it as I grew up in the area and per google-maps it's in what used to be an empty field on t...
