Re: New knife, uneven grind

I can totally relate, though I would like to add: it is a matter of perspective... Does it matter on my 120€ work delica... Not that much, it is not nice but there are more important things that could be wrong. Does it matter on my special release super duper edition 200+ knife? Heck you can bet it ...

Re: Native 5 — intentions behind design?

I had the same experience with a PE native in S35vn... Or now that folks have replied maybe it was because I came from a delica... Not sure. But it was what ultimately made me sell it.

Re: Which SE to get as a first SE?

Thanks for all the suggestions. I am basically looking for a comparison on how well the SE compares to PE in edc (so mostly slicing some cardbox, opening letters, some food prep). So I guess it should be something I am familiar with to improve the comparison. I always found the native to be a bit th...

Which SE to get as a first SE?

Well, see the title, I want to try out a full SE Spyderco.
I think the (para) military is out of the question for me personally...
Delica or endura in VG-10? Salt? Or something totally different?

Re: What were the biggest changes to your EDC habits in 2018?

Switching back to a SAK as my edc choice. Cause anything else is overkill and overrated for my personal situation. Even spydercos and sebenza.
It is nice to own nice knives. But at the end of the day I realized that a SAK provides me with more value and usability at a fraction of the cost.

Re: Why Didn't You Buy A Manix 2 Back Lock?

I bought a manix backlock and I quite liked it. Then I sold it again. Asides from being illegal to carry here (which doesn't stop me) and being a total knife flipaholic the reason were: Too big for my edc use. The backlock thwack was too loud due to the liner less g10 construction which constantly a...

Re: Just bought a Golden Stone and.......

Recently stumbled over this... And thought... Why the heck would I need this... And at WHAT price?
Then I saw how it was supposed to be used...
Now I want one.
And maybe my dad will want one as well as he will be getting a sharp maker as a gift for Christmas.

Re: What should I buy to practice sharpening on?

Buy an opinel. Stainless or not. Size 7 or 8. If you can sharpen it consistently all the way to the tip you will be fine with most blades.

Now if I hadnt just bought my first CRK this would still be relevant.

Re: So I ordered a regular stock Junction, and what did I get?

I know of one dealer who semi regularly sells numbered knives, so my guess is somebody there has a membership and sells the one he doesnt like. Which is perfectly fine as it is always mentioned in the ad and this way you can get that specific knife a bit earlier.

Re: Chef is Back, Tell a Friend.

This has long been a very tempting design for me, but it is just not going to happen at price they demand over here plus not really legal to carry. But I sure would love to.

It would have been my sprint run calypso if it hadn't been immediately obvious when first gripping the knife that it is not for me.
So. Now it is my HAP40 delica wharncliffe again.

Re: Would you prefer if Spyderco boxes were improved in any way?

Nope, the packaging is fine and the issue of the op is not a packaging issue.
I would rather have it that they spend money on manufacturing and development etc than packaging which is perfectly sufficient IMHO. That is of course only my opinion.

Re: Mantra Bearing Race

Well, I ordered some washers. Here are the sizes I came up with. Please note that my caliper is cheap so i checked, cheked, and rechecked everything, but YMMV. For the washers( bearing races) I got .005in. For the thickness of the ball bearings, I got .041in. for a total of 46 thou. per side. Outsi...

Re: REX45 + Sharpmaker: wise or foolish?

Not sure about this whole m4 being a nightmare to sharpen, my experience is quite to the contrary that m4 sharpens easily and nicely for its performance.
Didn't really mind touching up my gb or mantra on the sharp maker.
But maybe somebody with actual experience can chime in.
