Re: Another run of Whale Rescue Blade is needed.

I’d love to get your input on how you think this knife would work as a machete vs a plain edge. I've used this one a fair amount puttering around in the garden and woods, and it works really well as a sort of hand scythe. It cuts through softer plants and vegetation like butter. But it has a tenden...

Re: Another run of Whale Rescue Blade is needed.

I'm happy to see my Frankenwhale knife featured in this thread! Here's another picture:

The handle (peel-ply orange G1) was done by Knockwood Blades and the blade tip was reprofiled by bladechops (or so he goes on instagram).

Re: 2023 - Did your preferences change or stay the same?

Over the last couple years (and last year especially) my preference has been towards larger knives, especially larger folders with clips. But I still like them light! I used to think the Military was too big but for some reason it's perfect for me now (and the PM2 seems a little squashed in comparis...

Re: SNK Manix 2 LW is coming!!!

Just got mine yesterday! I’m always impressed by the quality of the Manix 2 LW. Light as a feather but totally solid lockup, smooth, centered, snappy action, just so crisp and clean, not to mention the near-perfect design and great steel.

Catcherman LC200N Sprint Run

I felt that the upcoming LC200N Sprint Run of the classic Catcherman deserved its own thread! A picture: https://i.imgur.com/eaqQutz.jpg (At first I thought this upcoming sprint run was the first one with a full flat grind, but I was wrong. There was a black FRN one in MBS-26 from the early 2000s th...

OK, so here are the knives that I NEED from this reveal: Bodacious, Crucarta Military 2, Crucarta Manix, Magnacut Manix LW, LC200N Native Chief LW, LC200N Catcherman, S90V Military 2. That has to be a record!

I forgot that I had pre-ordered one (the Spy27 one) on Blade HQ! When I get it I'll report back.

Re: Is the Native chief supposed to be hard to open?

As others have mentioned, lock backs (or back locks, same thing) have a spring which creates a bias towards closure. They also don't have detents. The spring pressure combined with the lack of detent makes flicking non-ideal. But some back locks can still be flicked open. It depends on the geometry ...

Re: Why are seki city spydercos so different?

Here's my interpretation of the OP's point: Spyderco's Seki-made lockbacks are simple, nearly indestructible (within reason), dependable, fully ambidextrous, ergonomic, are fantastic cutters, and are relatively affordable. The question is why don't other knife companies try for the same formula? The...

Re: Orange County, California legal blade limit?

I’m a resident of Orange County and am not aware of any county-created or city-created knife restrictions. So just the state ones would apply. Summary of state law: You can carry a folder of any size, either open carry or concealed carry. Switchblades, however, must be less that 2”. You can open car...

Re: The Paramilitary 2 is the best knife Spyderco has ever made.

False! The Military is the best knife Spyderco has ever made. Once you come to know and love the Military, you’ll recoil in horror at the Paramilitary 2, because you’ll see it for what it truly is: a dwarfish, stunted, and monstrous little imitation of the real deal! OK, that’s going a bit too far. ...

Re: Para 3 Lovefest, Where Did It Go?

I don’t know if this has happened with anyone else, but over the years, I’ve started to prefer larger knives. I used to prefer the Para 3, then the Para 2, and now it’s basically the Military all the way, as far as that family of knives goes.

Re: Spyderco Military 4V DLC St. Nick's Exclusive

Mine went all the way from that to being at my local post office and then to out for delivery, all updated today. Same here. Last night it still showed as just "received" by the local USPS in Georgia, but as of this morning it's out for delivery (in Southern California). And the icing on ...

Introducing the Native Chief Lightweight (courtesy of SpyderCollector)

https://spydercollector.wordpress.com/2023/03/08/native-chief-lightweight-spyderco-design-production-sample-2023/ I need, need need one of these when they come out!
