How are Maxamet and REX121 different.

These are very hard steels so how do they differ say in sharpening, holding an edge.

Lil Native slicing

Thinking of getting a LN Compression lock model. Wondering how well it slices, the short thick blade makes me wonder. ???

I've looked at this one long and hard, but well, that kind of money for S30V......NO.

The XHP knives.

What are the Spyderco CTS XHP knives? I recently pulled out my Bowie and so enjoyed using it. With all the new steels out there I kind forgot about it.
I read it likes a polish, going to try that.😀

Re: What Spyderco is in your pocket today??

MY OLD SAGE 5 LW.
I took my Sage 5 lightweight with me for a month's visit to our son and his family. I used it hard without mercy. When I got back home, I scrubbed it clean, reprofiled, oiled. Pow! Good as new.

Fine tuning S30V ?

I have lots of S30V knives and I can get them sharp with the aid of diamonds, Sharpmaker, strop. I don't use my knives very hard anymore so QUESTION: How would you finish S30V to bring an edge that would slice paper, cut apples, whittle soft wood, a little cardboard? Does S30V do well with the brown...

Re: Para 3 - anyone else wish the blade stock was thinner?

Thinner blade stock on the Para 3?
Perhaps on the lightweight, in keeping with the "lightweight" name.
Not for the G10 models.

Easier to keep the blade centered? IDK

Spyderco uses one on a lot of their models too
The Spyderco knives I carry, have 2 screws.

Spydercos, pivot?

What is the purpose of an adjustment screw on each side of the pivot? Other makers use one. I've had difficulty adjusting some at times.

Sage 5 Lightweight:
Love this knife, but would like a little thinner edge for better slicing. I don't use it for heavy work (pruning garden, cutting sisal twine, whittle soft pine etc. )
What edge angle do you suggest? (20 deg. 15deg)
Thanks!

Re: The Pivot Bushing

I see no harm in a"little" side to side play when locked open. Most knives have side to side when closed. These are acceptable to me.
If you like zero play when open or closed invest in a CRK, of course they require a few $100's more than a Spyderco.
I prefer the Spydedrco action.

Canvas micarta scales

Do you like your micarta scales?
I recently installed a set of OD green canvas micarta scales on my Para 3, S110V. This baby is dear to me, so very comfortable, fills my hand, just grippy enough. Plus the canvas ages beautify.
