Re: question regarding sharpmaker UF and diamond rods
I use the diamonds and medium browns, pretty much exclusively, ala Gringo.

Re: Millie Cruwear
From a practical (well....*my*) standpoint, I'm finding little difference in Cruwear, S30V, Super Blue and 204P.....once a nice, even toothy edge is applied. I do adore Cruwear, though. This one took the end of two fingers off, yesterday, but I still like her. http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x288...

Should also add, I run a short piece of black paracord through the lanyard hole and melt the ends, blobs flush with the scales......gives me more of a tactile point of reference whenst drawing the knife.
We need more fun words, like "whenst" in our vocabularies.

The wave opens bottles just fine. It's not as elegant as a dedicated bottle opener, but it works.

I think I agree.Surfingringo wrote:The Matriarch will hold up to light/normal edc use with a bit of common...The Lil Matriarch is a far better "all arounder" for everyday use IMO.

My experience pretty much mimics Studeys, including the last statement.....I also carry spine forward, drawing to a reverse grip. (was sooooo used to carrying the P'Kal in this fashion)
The wave works very very well....for me.

Re: Is the Matriarch 2 (esp. Waved model) OK for regular EDC use or not?
Been using my black Matriarch 2 Emerson daily for a few months, now, just to see how it would hold up.....it's doing fine. I keep the serrations VERY sharp, with frequent touch ups on the fine rods. Small tree branches, cardboard, wood and splinters, zip ties, pet food bags, apples. I'd imagine the ...

Re: Spyderco Schempp Bowie ?
Mine is relegated to camping duty. Does a good job with general food prep and making bigger sticks into smaller sticks.
Skinning game? I believe it to be a big large and unwieldy for that.....great for hacking a chicken in half, removing fish heads, etc., though.

Recycling this pic from the calendar contest. Gotta say, I've been pretty harsh on Cruwear #1, as well as my constant gardening/bush whacking companion MommaTwo! Love that curve and those serrations.....both are exceeding my expectation. http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x288/xrmattaz/image.jpg1_60...

Re: P'kal- Very Nice, But a small problem...
Too much of this sort of thing, lately, unfortunately. I'm so sore and tired from re profiling brand new knives the past few days......the grinds were so uneven. One sprint was so bad, I sent it in for a factory regrind. When it came back to me, I tossed it in my user pile....the grind was SO far of...

Not the best pics, hope they help! First shows an edge that I just painted with Sharpie. http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x288/xrmattaz/image.jpg1_59.jpg And.....after just a few swipes on the SM medium rods. You can see that the Sharpie black is being ground off right up to the apex......the shar...

Re: .Got my new Techno and...
Normal. No lube, that will make matters worse. Keep that interface CLEAN....as in sparkly clean and degreased with alcohol. It'll break in nicely. If it keeps making a racket, you can "paint" that portion of the blade tang (lock bar/tang interface) with a little graphite from a pencil, or ...

I'd like a Civilian with a wave - opener (a little post like the PKal would be dandy). Oh, and H1 steel.

Re: Radioactive’s 2.5K Post GAW!
I've learned a TON from this community, only hoping to give back one small token of what I have received. Everything from a bit of faith....sending one of my grail knives off to the mother ship, just hoping and praying that it would return undamaged. To amazement and awe....in how helpful folks are ...
