Stripes/finishes

I know this may sound silly, and I don't want to present myself as a mall ninja or a tactical goofball, but I thought of something I think would look really neat. How had would it be to put some of those Strider-style stripes or similar "tactical" embellishments on a Manix/Mini-Manix/Milit...

There are some things better left to scissors as bad as I hate to admit it. I commend what you're doing. I know from experience that a lot of trouble young people get into is caused by boredum, especially in small towns and rural areas.

Sharpmaker Q

I was wondering if anyone else has this problem. I've really made good use of my sharpmaker in the last couple of years I've had it, but it's getting to the point where if I try and sharpen something with the white stones, the points on it get gummed up with metal dust after only a few strokes. I ta...

Harry, Islandboy, not meaning to disagree or say anything polemical, but it seems I'm a bit of an oddity. On most of the knife/gun/manly things boards I read regularly, everyone always talks about having big hand and how so many things aren't ergonomical. I have small hands and find the Paramilitary...

I don't actually have a Paramilitary, but I often carry a Persian or Endura or etc, but since I wear blue jeans almost exclusively, I keep my Kiwi in my watch pocket, and it gets about 10X the use that way. Never seen anyone more than very mildly scared of it.

I'm too lazy to go back through all 40 some odd pages of this thing and check. Does anyone have a link to a place that shows how to tie some of this stuff? I don't really care for lanyards on my knife, but that idea of "5 feet of paracord on your keychain" really speaks to me if I can find...

I may as well make an enemy or two. I don't like rescues or hawkbills. Rescues, for the same weight and size I could be carrying something more versitile. Hawkbills, the one I tested on a bladeforums passaround was very poorly suited for anything I use knives for. Sorry to step on toes, but since we...

Since I got one a couple of months ago, I have to say Kiwi. It may be very small but it's the cuttingest little thing I ever did see. For the uses I put knives to, I find it more versitile than the Cricket (still like my Cricket though). And finally, if you want to wait a while and it strikes your f...

D'Allara vs Stretch

I've been thinking about this for a while. Both the D'Allara Drop Point and the Stretch are medium-ish sized VG-10 knives. I love the steel, but I'm not sure which way to go. I'm not crazy about the zytel handle on the D'Allara, but it's much more reasonably priced than the Stretch. Anybody care to ...

I only have one change I would like to see made. Give us something with a G10 handle and a non-S30V or ZDP189 steel. Probably VG10. Otherwise, I'm perfectly pleased with the way things are right now.

I carry for several reasons. I just flat out like knives. I like to show off what I've got to people I think might be interested. I'm a little paranoid, and in an emergency I'd like to be able to cut a seatbelt, a piece of rope, or something else that might mean life or death to myself or someone el...

I know emotions are running high on this issue, but I say it should have a depleted uranium handle... Seriously, I like the idea of turning it into a "US Penknife" with a G-10 handle and wire clip, except I hope it will be VG10. I'm tired of all the G-10 handle knives only being available ...

Don't you just hate it when...

Don't you just hate it when you've got a really pretty knife, and you get it scratched? I love my Persian and I hate my Persian. It's such a tough, well balanced knife that I want to use it, but all that shiny metal and that black clip make me fear getting it scratched up. I've already got a few scr...

I have a serrated Cricket. It does really well. Eats cardboard like nobody's business as well as thick plastic banding (like they put on stacks of lumber) Not sure about the sharpening, it hasn't got dull yet.

Steel question

With this talk I've been hearing about S90V and S120V and so on, what's the difference between them and S30V? I know the chemical composition must be different, but are they harder or what? Just curious.
