Re: Tamahagane Spyderco!
Sal, Id love ANY steel you guys made into a knife.
Tamahagane has simply always fascinated me. The wood-like grain that shows when polished is sweet. The work that goes into it. The ART behind it.
Of course there are much better options now. Prolly never happen.
But if it does, ill be glad God ...

Tamahagane Spyderco!
With Spyderco being a leader in exotic steels, it would be awesome to see a tamahagane blade offered by them at some point. Like on another mule run or whatnot. Word.

I absolutely LOVE my 701 set. Shoulda bought like four sets to last me forever. I don't follow the official instructions, as i find it very awkward and wobbly trying to balance the rod and maneuver the knife. Also find that the amount of strokes recommended usually produces a pesky wire edge. I just ...

In South Dakota you can walk into some knife stores and buy one, then leave and carry it same as a slipjoint with a thumb notch.

Re: Why is the FRN native so expensive now?
Thx guys. I suspect it was mostly a matter of Spyderco starting the native with walmart to expand the brand, as said. I believe it was around 8 years ago, but that is a pretty wild guess. I recall at the time seeing the exact same knife here and there for 70, while still 40 at walmart. Wish I would ...

Why is the FRN native so expensive now?
Hey all, im sure this has been asked, but i figured id ask again for a nutshell answer.
Many years ago, I bought the made in USA s30v FRN native when walmart was selling it for forty bucks. It disappeared from my pocket soon after while i was working. Truth be told, i wasnt in love with it, so I ...

The perfect balance of form and function.
When a knife has perfect ergos, perfect performance, and looks awesome, the formula is complete. This puts it on my favorite list.

Re: Late Xmas present
Opus,
If youre seeing a true bead blasted finish, id be concerned. Im pretty confident spyderco doesnt even use bead blasting. You sure thats the right description?
Dutch,
When you describe the polish, are you actually seeing grind lines, like the lateral ones found on, say, a PM2? Mine has none ...

Re: I need help identifying if my new knife is a real Spyder
Strange. Thinking if you got it from walmart its prolly real. I just scanned my brand new Manix 2 LW, and the code wouldnt even register on my phone. Now im starting to worry a bit. Maybe somethings up with the codes???
