Looks like a useful design for a full-time fisherman
but why S30V and not m390, or even Elmax? Salt water destroys s30v.
maybe even a clad?

that's really nice considering how late in the game it is for CruwearMacLaren wrote:

I got mine for $165 shipped.
And honestly, that's why I got it. The price was right for me anyways.
Where did you find it?

Re: Millie Cruwear
How would this compare to the S110V or the upcoming 52100? There are a few Cruwear Millies floating around out there, but for prices higher than what the S110V and 52100 are going to run me. I'm debating if I should pick up a Cruwear and drop one of the other 2 I have on back order. I have the PM2 ...

Re: Hap40 corrosion testing
what was it like around the folding pivot? my zdp-189 corrodes in that area just by staying in the pocket (sweat at work). That's the main reason why I hate non-stainless steels in folders, you have to disassemble to prevent the washers from being ruined by corrosion, but doing so voids the warranty...

Hi Spyderholics , Asking for help with a recent purchase it is a Spyderco military and it has NO markings at all on the blade . On the clip it states US patent 4347665 Foreign Pats Pending Other Pat Plnd. Asking if anyone knows year of M/F ,type of Blade Steel and if its rare or not. [url=http://im...

Re: P'kal- Very Nice, But a small problem...
Off-centering is bound to happen in mass production. Unless the blade is scraping on the side of one of the scales, you're fine. I have about 12 knives and they're all off to some extent. Loosening the screws probably won't make a difference, you would have to disassemble to see if sometging is actu...

Re: Any advantages of S35VN over S110V?
Knifeworks currently has the para military 2 available in both steels but S35VN is more expensive than S110V (slightly). I've always thought that S110V is the current highest end steel and I'm kind of confused that S35VN is more expensive. Any thoughts? The s35 costs more bc its a sprint, that's ho...

Re: Usefulness of Sub-3 Inch Blades?
A discussion I had: It was asked to me: "What use does a knife, specifically Spyderco knives, with a blade shorter than three inches at the minimum length, have?" The person's point seems to be that one needs a blade length at least 3 inches or larger, such as 3.5, and that blades that ar...

Good morning and Happy Tuesday! Got a snow day here in Colorado and thought I would make my first post since I am a soon to be new owner of some Spydies. I am generally looking to see if anyone can direct me to a "sharpening guide for dummies" kind of thing. These are my first quality kni...

Liner lock longevity?
Only experience is with non-liner locks. Anyone here ever wore out their military, or noticed gradual slack from wear? I've grown fond of the Nilakka and its gigantic liner design.

Re: Is there an updated steel chart?
Doesn't provide a layman's description of it. I really just wanted to see what the differences were with all the steels. I mean, I keep hearing about Elmax, SuperBlue, M40, HAP40 at such. So before I bought a knife with any of these steels, I wanted to see what exactly I was getting. Good idea on w...

Re: PM2 Elmax, M390, or s30v for max sharpness?
just go with s30v.
Elmax and m390 are only available in models that are far more expensive than comparable ones in s30v and don't come close to offering an increase in performance that would justify the increase in cost.

Not really. S90V has more carbon and nearly twice as much Vanadium, that makes a big difference.Zenith wrote:

S90V is betterhawaiihunter wrote:Which steel in your opinion is superior to the other as a well rounded steel
m390 is overrated, unless you want a very corrosion resistant steel that has good edge retention. Otherwise, S30V is just as good.

Re: Has the love affair with ZDP-189 ended?
The HAP40 sprint is pretty much the next step on the same road that started with ZDP-189. How so? HAP40 is just Japanese M4 with a bunch of unnecessary cobalt. and how is ZDP-189 obsolete? Because marketing says so? The only steels that meaningfully out-perform it are S90V, 10V, S110V and the other...
