Re: C-159 Air Campaign: Sprint or Bust!
With a wrist whip it'll open the whole knife without your hand on the blade. I'd imagine a drop would do the same. It's definitely a notably weak detent, even for a small light blade mass. I'm not scared of it, but it's something to keep aware of.
I’ve owned four, still have three. None of ...

Re: C-159 Air Campaign: Sprint or Bust!
Spyderco is not going to ‘just throw a clip on it’. The current design does not have any room for it without a redesign.
So to make the change to a version with a clip, I imagine there will need to be meetings, drawings, proto’s etc.

Re: C-159 Air Campaign: Sprint or Bust!
I both have custom scales with a small Spyderco clip, and a nicely fitting leather slip.
Very much prefer carrying in the slip.
So my vote goes to no clip.

Re: C-159 Air Campaign: Sprint or Bust!
I think it's important to not lose focus on the goal here. We're asking for a sprint run, not a new knife. An "Air 2" would not be a sprint run. Bringing these knives back for sprints in their near original form is part of the appeal. The only changes should be blade steel and handle material, in ...

Re: C-159 Air Campaign: Sprint or Bust!
If this is really happening, I think it would be worth considering steel liners.
Since they are small and heavily skeletonized, I doubt it would make much of a weight difference. But it would definitely improve the longevity of the lock.
I know from experience the thin titanium liners on the Air ...

Re: Serrated Sprint Runs Wanted? Let's Get Serious
Serrated Air would be amazing I think. In fact, I have a couple of extra Airs to try that on. Does anyone know who does custom serrations on a blade?
Edit: Willey Knives I see. Anyone have experience with them?

Tool steel bolsters
I’m imagining an original Kiwi with nicely patinated bolsters (and blade), and wooden inlays.
Now that would be a cool sprint run!
Probably should be shipped together with some oil though

Re: Fast wear on titanium framelock
I think it will be ok. I have two Chokwes. One at some point had the worst lock stick ever. Now it’s perfect. Just keep using it, and maybe apply the graphite a few times like you’ve already done.
