Re: What dulls a knife?
Seems that the dirt and dust theory is slightly far fetched. I have Goggled some more on the topic, and it's only this guy saying this. Maybe, it's just his opinion and not based on facts. It looks like lack of use and oxidation are major culprits.

What dulls a knife?
A knife will get dull if not used for its intended purpose. This is obvious. According to a silversmith, a folding knife can get dull as a result of dirt and dust in your pocket. Wiping the dust and dirt off the blade results in the debris rubbing against the edge of the blade thus wearing at the ed...

Re: Spyderco Endura Lock Failure?
Something from the cardboard jamming the mechanism sounds more plausible. Now, there'a another viable possibility.

Re: Spyderco Endura Lock Failure?
I did look around with a flashlight, and didn't see any lint.It looked very clean to me. By-the-way, I tested the knife before I used it that day. It made a clicking sound and locked.Cut some cardboard boxes, closed the knife, and took a break. When I went to open it, it did not lock.Tried opening a...

Re: Spyderco Endura Lock Failure?
Are you saying that you don't believe lint or debris can cause a lockback to fail, or are you saying Spyderco lied about the issue? I am not saying anyone lied. Of course, lint or debris can cause failure. However, in lockbacks, the most common failure is the small pivot pin which secures the locki...

Re: Spyderco Endura Lock Failure?
I had the same problem with the Delica 4. They say it was lint buildup. I don't buy that excuse for a bit. I could of cut my fingers. I am not impressed with the knife and lost trust in the knife also. I will be shopping elsewhere. Do you really think that Spyderco would send back a knife to the cu...

Re: Title change:Not impressed with Spyderco Delica 4
The comments have not scared me off. With the holidays, I am kind of busy, but I will respond. I have narrowed my decision to an EDC, and will let the members know which one and why. Until that time, happy holidays and chill.

Re: Not impressed with Spyderco
Your story reminds me of why I really like Spyderco... if anything breaks, they will fix it for free. The Customer Service Rep really can't honestly guarantee anything will never happen again. If you ever talked to one who did, then they are not being honest with you, they are just telling you what...

Re: Not impressed with Spyderco
I keep hearing that lint is a possibility. How many here have bought a new knife, carried it in there pocket for a few months, took it out and operated it to make sure it's ok. When the time came to use it, it failed you? I believe this is rare. You would be pissed too.

I can't return it to the dealer because it has passed the 60 day warranty. They told me to contact Spyderco. The dealer is very big on the internet and reputable.

Re: So this just happened to my Manix2 :(
I live in Canada, and I ordered a Spyderco knife from a reputable dealer in the USA. I had no problems with customs.
