Looking at my SharpMaker, it says "40 Degrees - edge" and "30 Degrees - back bevel" which to me would indicate that if you do the back bevel or both at 30 degrees and then touch up with the 40 degree especially on the cutting edge, you will do fine. If other SharpMakers are not m...

I am from NC so most of us, at least the ones that don't want to live in metropolitan areas for various reasons, are 100% behind the second amendment and consider it one of the most important if not the most important right enumerated in the Constitution.

LorenzoL, not to be short or crabby but you get what you pay for. If you want best-of-breed design, excellent support, realtime input and feeback on models and don't mind paying a little extra for it, the question is moot. I think that the folks at Spyderco are among the very best in being responsiv...

Keeping aggressive serrations on a good steel (I love how vg10 holds up with serrations) will keep those edges scary sharp indefinately. since getting my sharpmaker several years ago (and watching the very simple video sal made) i have sharpened hundreds of different bladed implements on it with gre...

I usually end up carrying one PE with a belly and a hawkbilled SE, though carrying the scorpius of late has really done a fine job of doing the needed work that mt dialex has been doing (my wife loves it since her hands are not as big and strong). I think that throughout the years using spydies has ...

I'm going to go with Sal&Eric on this one-I've only carried the Scorpius for a couple of weeks, but it has replaced my primary EDC Merlin for my good hand jeans pocket position. beautiful, aggressive cutter (I have the SE from the factory special currently going on) and if you study Dim Mak or p...

I'd say that the weight is greater than that of most cheaper flys of comparable or shorter length and comparable to a med-large BM bali. I think that the rainbow is beautiful but have seen an example where the blade has pitted with surface rust after a moderate amount of time in non-climate-controll...

I have my wife carrying larger knives than I do. A PE Adventura, a PE Byrd Cara Cara and a 50/50 Endura. She says that the Cara Cara (a Valentine's Day present-she got me a Scorpius-I think I've found my soulmate) is a little big/heavy for her, the Endura is right on weight but a little large for he...

FWIW, My Scorpius has significantly more aggessive serrations than my Merlin. It also outcuts it notably. Of course I am comparing a 2-week old VG-10 blade with a 6+ year old ATS-55 blade but my Merlin is still quite sharp and I keep it that way. The Scorp may actually have more serration nicks due ...

I am 100% in favor of making more or less all spydies in SE as I carry SE almost exclusively. Right now I EDC a SE Scorpius and a SE Merlin (I carry a small Kershaw PE for variety and size but it sees little use outside of whittling and very small cutting jobs). My wife, on the other hand, carries a...

i'm with thombrogan re: the hawkbill uses. I've been carrying a merlin SE 99% of days since late 2002 and it is indispensable. my wife likes PE blades but I find it 100% essential to carry SE as it cuts through whatever i am cutting much more quickly. with the merlin, it is trivial to balance the ha...

wow, that's crazy. I love the dragonfly. If you have faith in it, it is one wonder of a big little knife and it was the beginning of my love for spydercos and good working knives in general. long story short, I love the dragonfly and look forward to seeing many great dragonflies in the years to come.

bonjour!

My french is very rusty but i still remember a handful of things that would not likely be appropriate in this forum.

i like torx bits and find most of my french-influenced devices using them. old HP computer hardware, older jeeps, etc.

i have one wharncliffe-the secondary blade on a pre-war boker tree brand 2-bladed slipjoint. the prinary blade is a sheepsfoot and both have years of hard use so I know it was a well-love well-used knife (traded a baseball card or two for it about 15-20 years ago :D ) It's cool having a piece of his...
