Re: Do you have the Spyderco Bushcraft?
I find it one of the best knives on the market if you prefer the traditional Ray Mears style bushcraft knife. I have since moved away from the scandi grind but still, the knife is pretty awesome for what its designed to do. The handle is excellent. Its probably my most comfortable handle, hands down...

Re: Spyderco: Ergonomic Superiority
I find ergonomics is actually the place where Spyderco can make the largest improvement, at least in folders. The edges of the scales are without a doubt the biggest draw back to my K2. Makes it very hard to do heavy cutting, especially in the hammer grip. The edges of the liners in my Gayle Bradley...

Re: Nirvan lock
I have a K2 that I got September of 2014 for my birthday that I have carried and used extensively for the past year. No lock movement, no lock stick, and no lock rock. Its probably the best execution of the framelock that I have ever owned. Or at least as good as the CRK made framelocks. Not sure if...

Re: Perrin Street Beat - some cardboard cutting, extended comparison
Perrin does a really nice job, at least imo, at making a combative knife. I have always like the Street Beat and Street Bowie. The forward choil gives similar security as a guard would while still maintaing a slimmer profile for iwb carry. It was a really cool and simple solution to getting the secur...

Re: What steels take an extremely fine edge?
Cliff, wouldn't this apply to mostly coarse grits? The rate of polish or cutting is influenced by the particle size. As the abrasive gets much larger than the size of the carbides it starts to "see" them even less. However the carbide volume compared to the steel volume is small even in s...

Re: What steels take an extremely fine edge?
... vanadium carbides are supposedly harder than sharpmaker stones, Does that mean s90v and s110v would eat the stones and or not get sharpened extremely well? The Sharpmaker rods are alumina which is softer than vanadium carbide however only a small part of the steel is vanadium carbide even in st...

Re: My brother rusted S110V Manix
Hi Kevin, as a saltwater fisherman, I would be interested to see you do more testing. :D I might be getting one of those s110v Manix this year. If I do, I will definitely do some kayak fishing with it to see how it compares to s30v and other stainless steels in corrosion resistance...as well as edg...

Re: My brother rusted S110V Manix
What knives/steels does he usually use (Assuming that they don't rust)? Oh he rusts everything. Its just unavoidable. I gave him this to use just to see how well it would do. He usually uses 154CM. This actually went two weeks and this was the only rust on it. I really just wanted to see how S110V ...

My brother rusted S110V Manix
So my brother borrowed my S110V for work. He works for Monsanto and I around various chemicals on a daily basis. This is a reason he prefers very high stainless steel. I figured it was an interesting data point considering S110Vs normal corrosion resistance. I may turn this into an experiment to see...

Re: Neck Knives
It depends on what you want it for. I know some combatives practitioners who use them and also ive heard rafters like them a lot since its difficult for them to access their waist in the raft. For normal day to day use, I personally cant really see their added practicality over a folder or IWB fixed...

Re: S110V vs S90V
In my experience, there is no appreciable difference between S110V and S90V. On paper S110V has more carbide and thus higher corrosion resistance, but in practice with a pocket knife, you would have to cut an astronomical amount or material to see a functional difference. Same with corrosion resista...

Re: Steel choices for the Spyderco kitchen knives
I would like to see the kitchen knives in cladded Super Blue. Its proven already that it is a very effective kitchen steel if the proper care is observed. Obviously this would be more expensive, but id certainly pay it for a santoku and one of the utility knives.

Re: Spyderedge Injustice
Most say serrations are only good for rope and such, and plain edge destroys it in 90% applications. Is SpyderEdge different? :) I'd bet most of those "most people" haven't ever tried a truly sharp serrated knife either. Can't believe everything you see on You Tube. Serrations certainly a...

Re: Edge retention carving pine : AUS-6, 10V
**** cliff, did you modify the handle of the K2 or wear glvoes for that test? I tried doing this type of cutting with the K2 and only got about 100 cuts before my hand was don't from all the hot spots on the handle.
