Re: Spyderco Endura 4 and worksharp belted sharpener

Convexing the edge wont hurt it from a cutting standpoint. But yes, the higher angle of the worksharp will slightly decrease the cutting ability. It wont be a gigantic difference, but it will certainly be there.

Re: Tatanka vs Voyager lock strength test By Cold Steel

Yet again proving that at a certain point, lock strength is irrelevant. The blades of most folding knives will certainly fail before the lock. So what then did this video prove? Just something for the Cold Steel fanbois to get their rocks off to. Though the voyager is a really solid knife design, li...

Re: Spyderco Product Guide

I also thought it was quite a well done catalog. Probably the best I hve seen to date, but Im not a catalog expert. I am surprised Spyderco gives this thing away. Its not a tiny two page pamphlet. Its a seriously made piece of literature on the knives. I am curious to compare it to my Benchmade cata...

Re: K2 lockup update

Very early lockup has always seemed odd to me as it severely compromises strength as it allows failure due to shear. Do you do snap/flick style openings commonly? Those are the biggest problems with rapid wear, aside from really heavy (ab)use such as impact work. I do the occasional flick open, but...

K2 lockup update

I have had the K2 since September 29th 2014 and it came in at about 60%-70% lock up depending on how you look at it and since that time, it has not seemed to move at all. There was a two month period after I first got it where I carried it about every day. It has cut all manner of things at this poi...

Spyderco, something for everyone

I was getting ready to do some testing with my new to me South Fork today and as I was getting it off my knife desk, I had a pretty cool realization when I looked at all my spydies. I do not have one Spyderco with the same steel as another Spyderco. They are all different. And beyond that, they are ...

Finally got my top production level grail, 610 Rukus

I have been chasing this knife for about 5 years not and I got a deal too good to pass up. Not sure if there are any Benchmade fans here, but I figured yall would like it. Wonderful condition and not an absurd price. Its gonna be fun to carry this and the K2 together :D . http://imgur.com/a/ETu53

Re: why not more S110V/S90V?

Those steels are really time consuming and expensive to procure and produce compared to more common place steels like VG-10 or 154CM. Also, its not a steel for everyone. Most people cant sharpen them and are too rough on knives for them to see any sort of good performance from them. They are pretty ...

I find bushcrafters and old guys tend to be the worst at propagating this myth of stainless steel being inherently inferior to carbon.

That is odd. I use nano oil exclusively and have never heard of this happening. Ive put them in all different pivots and lock types and got the same result. Taken it apart?

Re: Endura 5 ever coming out?

I don't actually know what they would change. I wont go so far as to say the Endura/Delica 4 series is perfect, but with all the variations currently offered, I cant really think of something that would make them better. I suppose they could do another G10 version? That's about all I can think of

Re: Tamahagane Spyderco!

Isnt Hitachi white simply are more refined version of the tamahagane recipe? The stuff (tamahagane) has never seemed particularly impressive from what I have seen of it. It looks cool, almost an far eastern damascene pattern look, but it doesn't seem like it would have any greater performance differ...
