I've noticed something very interesting about that. Knives that are cycled extremely often, or under high stress, sometimes appear to have either the pivots or the pivot holes slightly peened, such that the blade position shifts very slightly. When this happens, the detent ball no longer rides clean...

Rob, That would make sense. The only thing is that 154CM and S30V are not only expensive, but oxidation-prone steels. I have enough trouble keeping staining off my blade... if I need to watch my lockbar too, especially on the inside, I'd like to know. That's why I was thinking maybe the lockbar is 4...

Mike, It's a wonderful knife. Love how it handles, how it cuts, how it locks up. It's pretty much my perfect EDC. Wharnie with a deep forward guard, trailing tail, sharp as a ... yes... polysyllabic curse word. :) Mine had a number of critical flaws from the factory so after two months of putting up...

Lockback pivot pin and lockbar steel?
Just got a Manix. What a wonderful knife. Well-nigh perfect. This is my first Spyderco lockback since an old-school 440V Native, whose lock was utterly awful (couldn't open it one-handed, lock was tight and gritty). The Manix's lock is smooth to engage and disengage and is truly the nicest lockback/...

HoB, Yes, he mentioned that it didn't break but IIRC, he did state later on that the tip was massively dulled. A photo of the tip showed that it looked kind of like a butter knife. That's my understanding, at least... I've had a Ronin and much as I liked the design, the tip was WAAAAY too fragile fo...

Well, to contrast... I saw a LOT that I'm in love with. Have to buys: Yojimbo, Paramilitary, Chinook II, Cricket (the Mrs. likes it.) Too cool, but wouldn't use and wouldn't buy: Assist1 (too cool, even if I would never use it), Schmepp Persian, D'Allara (full serrations), Native III (have a Native ...

Yojimbo progress?
We're very anxiously awaiting the Yojimbo.
How close is Spyderco to production?
I'll be happy to beta test. <img src="wink.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>
