Re: Textbook HISTORY: How Accurate Is It?

And for Columbus to be put into a positive light is more than a "stretch" in my opinion. Serious history buffs just know better than that. Because I'm convinced that explorer Leif Erickson did indeed find the North American continent long before Columbus ever set sail. If a tree falls in ...

Re: Textbook HISTORY: How Accurate Is It?

In general, history is written by the winners, so it's likely there has almost always been some bias toward the winner's "side" of the story.

Re: The Last Gun You Bought

Picked up this Girsan Regard Gen 4 Sport a week ago. It's basically a Beretta M9A1 clone with some nice features, most notable of which is the trigger. SA pull is just under 4 lbs with a very short reset and comes very close to that of my LTT Elite Centurion. The DA pull is just over 9 lbs, about a ...

Re: Feature or Flaw?

I'd like it if every time I tried to search something, or try scrolling through pages of whatever I'm searching for...if I didn't get that message that I can't for another 20 or 30 seconds each time. That is extremely annoying, feels like 1990's tech using dial up or something! Totally agree! That ...

Re: Anybody Here Watch Pro Wrestling?

Use to enjoy watching pro wrestling quite a bit. Haven't watched it for 20+ years, but that's only because I haven't watched network TV for that long.

Re: Which knife later grew on you?

Definitely this Centofante Memory. http://paulberetta.com/Centofante%20Memory/images/centofante_mem_02a.jpg It doesn't just feature a "wrong handed" lock, it hides the Spyderhole almost completely from us southpaws. It not only has no 50/50 choil, it has no guard at all between the handle ...

Re: More Bolt-action locks please

It's the only lock other than the midlock that I'd even consider carrying on a regular basis. I'll just add that, having played with the axis lock counterfeit version, I'd be very interested in a bolt action lock version of the Stretch.

Re: Should Zome be Discontinued?

I think Zome is butt ugly. Still, unless Spyderco is forcing folks wanting to commission an exclusive to use it, which I strongly doubt, it's not really their decision to make.

Re: Endura 4 ZDP-189

Personally, I'll take VG-10 over ZDP-189 any day. ZDP-189 definitely holds an edge longer than VG-10, but then takes longer to sharpen and is also less rust and stain resistant than VG-10 so I don't see any real advantage to it.

Re: Only carrying one? Better count!

Depends on where I am. In the house, most often zero, but there's always one or more within reach. I'm looking at a Kiwi, a Centofante Memory, and a LH Military as I type this. Walking the dog, most often two and most often those are a Kiwi and a Stretch. Going somewhere in one of my cars, most ofte...

One like the current "Edge is a Ghost" pottery mug, only with :bug-red logos with Forum markings on both sides would be great.

Re: Spyderco coffee mugs

I’m surprised it’s big enough for your coffee dose, Paul! Holds almost exactly the same amount as the one I've been using. Teddy Mug.JPG And, as an added benefit, the CA Prop 65 label on the box lets me feel like I'm living dangerously. :winking-tongue John McClane had it right in Die Hard.

Re: CQI or tolerances?

I wonder how close they even are on multiple knives of the same model/steel? I can't speak for models made in Golden or, for that matter, by anyone other than Moki, but I can tell you that there is considerable variation in the blade grind lines on the 100+ VG-10 Kiwis in my collection. Heck even t...

Re: Let's talk about cutting edge vs blade length

I'll gladly trade edge length for a usable 50/50 choil. The way I see it, a 50/50 choil means the difference between a 2 finger grip and a 3 finger grip on a small knife, a 3 finger grip and a 4 finger grip on a medium one, and offers grip options on a large one. That said, I can see where "all...

Re: Spyderco coffee mugs

Mine arrived late yesterday and I'm using it for the first time as I write this. It's great, but would be even better if it wasn't "wrong handed". :winking-tongue Perhaps a future batch could either have a :bug-red logo on the other side, or repeat the "edge is a ghost" one there...

Re: What's your breakfast?

Hot cereal pretty much every day since I retired. Some days savory, some days sweet. Yesterday it was grits with bacon, onion, and cheese. Today will be either oatmeal or a 10 grain cereal, haven't decided yet, but the one I pick will be prepared with apple, raisins, and peanut butter. Others in the...

Re: Laminated Blade Steel

Haven't found a Spyderco laminated blade yet that really impressed me. With the exception of VG-10, I'm not a fan of the core steels they've used in them, and VG-10 has only been paired with singularly unattractive Japanese damascus.

That is a very good question! Before I read your post this morning I woke up and thought, Hmmm, that mug is bigger than the other Spyderco cups, I wonder how much it'll hold. I filled the mug to the point of overflowing, then poured the water into a measuring cup. So, filled right to the top of the...

Currated????

It seems to me that, in the last six months or so, "curated" has gone from total obscurity to becoming the newest member of the ever-growing list of words beaten to death by advertisers. Can only wonder how long it will be before we see something like this: We offer a curated selection of ...
