Re: Help me spend some money!
I've had my Sage 5 for 2 months, and it's been in my pocket every single day. I haven't skipped a day! It checks off everything I would ever want in a knife.

ejames13, I'm almost 100% sure any form of disassembly voids the warranty, but I would love it if you were right! :D

Re: Red loctite
Can confirm a permanent threadlocker (until heat is applied) on the Spydiechef, K2, Native 5 (S110V) and last few PM2s to cross my desk. Frustrating and ugly, especially given that they don't offer replacement screws, but nothing that a hairdryer can't fix. But it's kind of part-and-parcel with the...

Re: Flippers and Stop Pin Hammer
When I flip open my Domino, I flip it extremely hard, and as far as I can tell the lockup hasn't changed in the past 2 years.

Re: Can this scratch be removed?
In my opinion it's not worth removing. I tried to fix mine, but it looks worse now. But now I use it and don't care about scratches.

Re: Best Value in a Spyderco
The Manix 2 in G-10 offers a very good value in my opinion. When I got mine I think I paid $88. You get a strong, easy to use lock, S30V, stainless steel liners, and it's made in the US. All the same materials as the PM2, but at a lower price. Sure, you don't get nested and skeletonized liners, but ...

Re: PM2 Lock Rock
I would try sending it to W&R. That seems unusual that the lock would bottom out that fast. I've flicked my Para 2s thousands of times, but have never had this happen. I've always been interested to see what Spyderco would do in this type of situation. Keep us posted.

Re: PM2 Lock Rock
I've never seen a Para 2 with 100% lockup, so I'd say it's pretty rare. I have 3 of them, and it's never happened to me. The OP could try rotating the stop pin, and it should create a earlier lockup.

Re: PM2 Lock Rock
Same thing happened to me. I sent it in, they said they fixed it in the note I received, but the play was definitely still there. I still use it, but it's just a little frustrating. The rust on the stop pin usually comes off pretty easily. Maybe soak it in WD-40, and try rubbing it with a Q Tip Edit...

Re: Sage 5 Action Stiffness
Yeah, it was really weird to me. The stiffness and the centering issues really had me frustrated. I had the knife apart to try to fix it too. I tried the trick where you loosen all the screws and try to shift the scales in opposite directions, and I tried loosening one of the pivot screws to change ...

Re: Sage 5 Action Stiffness
Okay, so I have a update on my Sage 5. I kind of gave up on it, and just accepted the stiffness of it, but was bothered by the knife being very off-center. So I took the pivot screws out, put 2 pennies between the blade and the scale, and then readjusted the pivot. I took out the pennies, and then m...

Re: What's your most bloodthirsty Spydie?
I had my Sage 5 in my front pocket, and I needed a bigger knife to do some work for a kitchen remodel. So I quickly threw my military in my back pocket tip up without clipping it. I got in the car and thought "I should probably take the military out of my back pocket so it won't open when I sit...

Re: More Bolt Action Locks!
Another recent convert for the Bolt Action Lock- I was bought a Sage 3 by the family as a birthday gift and it's a very smooth lock. Then again, I love the Manix 2 so it's easy to 'feel' the similarity and also the difference: the M2 seems to 'snap' positively into a locked position, where as the S...

Re: Q Ball Bearing Lock (C219GP)
As a huge fan of the Dodo this is a very cool knife to see! Although I'd still prefer a Dodo, this looks a lot more practical, easier to sharpen, and as of right now, a lot cheaper! The Q-ball was one of the knives that really stood out to me.

Re: More Bolt Action Locks!
What kind of knives would everyone like to see with a bolt action lock? I love the Sage 3, but it would be interesting to see on some different knives.

Re: More Bolt Action Locks!
I love the CBBL as well, but it doesn't seem to be quite as easy to operate. The "detent" on the CBBL is slightly more positive though. One of the great things about Spyderco is all the different lock choices! But after all the Sage 3s are phased out there will be no more bolt action lock!

More Bolt Action Locks!
After I got my Sage 5, I fell in love with the Sage design and ergonomics. So now I'm on a quest to get them all. My second Sage was the 3, with the bolt action lock. I saw they recently discontinued the Sage 3, so I had to buy it, but was hesitant about the lock. I can't even explain how excited I ...

Re: Best place to have DLC applied to an Endura 4?
I don't know of anyone who does DLC, but you could probably duracoat/cerakote? Even if you went that route, it might be cheaper to just buy a black bladed Endura. Hope you figure something out!

Re: Normal after cardboard?
That seems odd then. But if it's still slicing newspaper then that's pretty darn good! It's just a little hard to see exactly what's going on in the pictures. What I've notice from cutting a lot of cardboard is that the edge seems to round off, but I've never seen edge damage unless I hit a staple. ...
