I was thinking long and hard about what could be the most non-realistic steel upgrade to Astute. I think I got it now.

Not sure whether this is a good deal or not, but Lamnia just got a few Jumpmaster 2 knives in stock - something that has not happened in a very long time:

I though that the hype of this pee-through material has waned already.

Re: The Astute
I just tried to put my (long hibernated) MXG clip that was sold as for Manix XL and PM2 (I used to use with my the Brouwer back when I still had mine - it was great fit), but it would not work straight away as the distance between the screws on the Astute is a little larger than the holes in the cli...

Re: The Astute
OK. I wanted to start a thread om this very knife, but since this one is out, here is my personal feedback: I was intrigued by the design of this knife for a few years now. But because of some personal reasons and also because I am pretty much a steel snob by now - I took a long time to finally tell...

Re: What is the best application to tool steel for long term storage?
Frog Lube - it is food safe. There are stronger rust-protecting agents, but I would rather not have on surfaces that might get in contact with food.
Here you can find a very detailed comparison of over 40 anti-rust agents

Re: Steels and spyderedge
Interesting discussion indeed! My experience with serrated edges is somewhat limited. H1 on my pacific has seen quite some use in the garden (a LOT of contact directly with ground) and it would take quite a beating as the edge stability is not that great (mainly rolling), but it would be fairly easy...

Re: Spyderco 50th Anniversary Knife?
I apologize, but am I going to be a little disrespectful. Hearing "Native 5" kinda makes me yawn at this stage. There were sooo many of all kind of versions and they keep coming up on a regular basis. Making yet another one with just some anniversary etch would be a bit of a low profile ce...

Re: Seki City back lock quality in 2022?
Got a k390 Delica recently. The knife is perfectly fine, but I would much prefer not to have that 'give' in the lock when applying more pressure on the edge. But I understand this has more to do with the design of the lock rather than quality of the production.

Re: AI art knows Spyderco
There will be companies that design and produce knives this way, unfortunately. “Ai designed” will probably be the marketing gimmick too. :nauseated I really despise this pseudo-creative Ai plague. No to be taken the wrong way, but when it comes to stuff being designed by AI, knives are the least o...

Re: Tanto blades
They've done it twice already but people grumbled a lot about the last one. It's a hard sell to put a run out that no one likes. [/quote] I am not aware of the full details, but I recall there were technical issues with one of the sprint runs (blade wrapping?), in what case it is hard to wander tha...

I am not too crazy about tanto PM2 for some reason, but a Lum Tanto sprint re-run would be awesome. Not sure whether it would be possible though.

Re: If laws and public perception were no issue, would you carry a different knife?
Believe it or not, but I have a couple of very weird friends that actually prefer their locking folding knives to be two hand opening. I don’t get it, but they’re free to like whatever they want. Anyhow, a favorite off the shelf option for at least one of them are the Fällkniven knives, the GP (Gen...

Re: Gauntlet vs Sharpmaker
I am wondering whether the Gauntlet rods given their cross-section are better suited to maintain some of the more narrow (more tightly packed) serrated patterns.

I agree, but apparently the majority of buyers prefer the (also excellent) leaf blade (similarly to the Stretch).
Magnacut DP would of course be great, but even Spy27 would be awesome.

Re: Spyderco backlocks : why is the stop pin an exception, instead of being the norm ?
I am wonder Whether the motivation was the very thin stock and thus the spring / backlock might be showing too much flex without the stop pin.
