I did make the journey in order to do the trade. And I'm glad that I did because I also saw some friends that I hadn't seen in almost three years. Thanks.bdblue wrote:I wouldn't drive 60 miles for it, but if you have 2 of the XL's then it would be reasonable to trade one for a PM2.

Thanks for replying ( all the way from South Africa ! ). :) What is the word on the street with regard to Pistorius ?Brock O Lee wrote:Yes I would trade, if I do not have a PM2 yet. The Manix 2 XL is perhaps slightly less expensive NIB, depending on where you buy, but for a trade I would value them about equal.

Would you trade a Manix 2 XL for a PM2 ? Good deal ?
I'm leaving in a few hours to drive about 60 miles in order to trade a new Manix 2 G-10 for a brand new Paramilitary 2 G-10 (both satin with black handles) . What are your thoughts on this trade , please ? (Not to worry - I own another Manix 2 XL.) Thanks in advance ...

I am considering the ZDP 189 as it appears that the steel is worth an extra $ 20. Thanks.

I forgot to mention that a female friend told me that the Manix 2 looks like a pterodactyl. LOL.

Re: Does the Delica blade look like a " bird head " ? Prefer more of the leaf design. Dragonfly?
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Some value function over form, others try to find something that offers both. No "wrong" or "right" here, it's strictly a matter of taste. So, if the Delica's blade shape doesn't "float your boat", there are plenty of other options...

Re: Does the Delica blade look like a " bird head " ? Prefer more of the leaf design. Dragonfly?
I'd suggest putting less priority in looks and more into performance and ergonomics. I do understand though, we all like what we like. The Dfly is a great knife, but a good bit smaller than the Delica too. If you're interested, many knives can easily be modified and made smaller with a little grind...

If you are into flippers you should check out the dice too. I use to like flippers , but Spyderco knives ruined my interest in them for the most part (except for my sole flipper a Leek). I will elaborate : there is just something about opening the blade by contact with the hole that is just more sa...

Delica has a great blade shape. It's what they call a "modified leaf shape".Very utilitarian. If you prefere a "clasic leaf shape" get a Caly3 or something in the Caly line. You have so many to choose from. They are all designed by a borned genius designer, Sal Glesser. My dream is t...

Well, it's kind of hard when all one has to go on is a photograph and/or video. It would be a different story if I could actually handle and thereby compare them. Who's the oddball now , Jazz ? :pJazz wrote:If you don't like it, don't buy it. If you like it, buy it. Odd question.

Caly3 zdp and cf maybe? The Caly3 is a wonderful knife. I would suggest that you give the delica a try. It is a wonderful knife. Do you dislike the looks of the Para2 or Military? They have the same blade shape as the the Delica. I personally prefer that blade shape and like to carry a delica with ...

Does the Delica blade look like a " bird head " ? Prefer more of the leaf design. Dragonfly?
I'm searching for a smaller Spyderco for occasional EDC instead of my Manx 2 or Manix 2 XL. I mean no disrespect :o , but I tend to agree with this video reviewer regarding the shape of some Spyderco blades. :( Anyway, I would like to buy a smaller Spyderco knife with more of a leaf shaped design. T...

Re: Balancing cutting tasks and edge retention? Or would should I not cut with my knife ?
The thing I hate most about knives is not using them. If a particular material is just going to dull the edge I'll use the knife and not worry about edge retention. If the material might do more damage than just dulling the edge I might not use the knife if all I have on me are knives that are valu...

Re: Balancing cutting tasks and edge retention? Or would should I not cut with my knife ?
Carry two knives. One is your main EDC, the other is a less expensive beater that you don't mind doing dirty work with and/or handing over to someone who asks to borrow a knife. I'm hesitant to lend my knife, especially when the borrower tends to ignore my advice with regard to cutting away from th...

Re: Balancing cutting tasks and edge retention? Or would should I not cut with my knife ?
As a point to consider, not everyone can sharpen or is willing to invest in damage repair, while it is trivial to some it isn't to others. Plus, not everyone has the money to replace trivially what can be an expensive knife and thus a reasonable question is what kind of things can be done with the ...
