Re: 2023 Official Discontinued List
Grabbed a Siren at KnifeJoy. Wasn’t aware that it was discontinued until I received an email from KnifeCenter this afternoon.

Re: BladeHQ Exclusive Lum Tanto
Even if the price weren’t so high, I’d be skeptical based on the fact that I bought two of the last ones that BHQ rolled out and both were pretty undeserving of the Spyderco or Lum brands. Rough locks, sharp unchamfered liners, and warped blades. This is too much money for an experiment or a second ...

Re: 2022 P.I.T.S Sprint!
In addition to the weak close on mine, it also looks like they used two washers on one side, presumably to make the blade centered when closed. This causes some rubbing on the opposite side especially when closing, which I believe is causing the “weak close.” $280? Time to get in touch with the deal...

Re: 2022 P.I.T.S Sprint!
Received mine today. Curious if annoying else’s has a weak close, such that the blade doesn’t always fully seat when closing? It’s theoretically possible that it could jab me if it were pocketed tip-up.

Re: My first Spyderco - Spydiechef - QC questions
I’ve bought an original run and a CQI Spydiechef. Both had issues and neither is still in the collection. I really wish they’d do an involved CQI with the same treatment as the Swayback, then I’d try a 3rd. I have a Shaman with the same detent issue you’re describing, too. Keeping it because otherwi...

Re: Any news on more Kapara goodness?
Hopefully any new versions of the Kapara (and I’ve owned 2) will have the amazing action of the BHQ Sage m4. There has never been a better compression lock.

Re: Native 5 salt is Magnacut?
I hope the Magnacut gets a yellow handle, maybe a different shade. Personally I’d really like a pine green. A blue shade to represent the ocean would be cool too. I like that suggestion. A bright BLUE handle color for MagnaCut would be nice to differentiate it with YELLOW for H-1/H-2 and GREEN for ...

My lock is “poppy.” I keep buying these PM2s and 3s … about 1/2 are smooth unlocking.

Re: Help with the Spydie Chef
I bought two and both had too many flaws for the price. I was one of the people here begging for the prototype to be made a model back in the day.
Would love it to get a v2 treatment. Great design, just needs to be modernized with some better attention to detail.

Re: Magna Cut Caribbean?
Looks like the Caribbean has finally been restocked at (some) dealers. Can’t seem to locate any CQI info. Anyone have better luck ascertaining what might be improved? Certainly not the steel, but hoping the pivot at the least.

Re: Favorite Lock?
The compression lock on my BHQ Sage Lightweight in M4. Not to be confused with my Crucarta PM2, which pops and needs to find another home. I still have probably 10-12 comp lock Spydies left. At my peak had way more, and about 1/2 had poppy locks. When they’re good, they’re good. Wish there was more ...

Thanks so much. How’s the lock release? My danger pickle had a clunky, poppy lock. Bothered me so much I sold it. Hoping the Stovepipe is smooth.

Re: Why are so many people concerned with perfect blade centering?
For the same reason if I buy a car I want the steering wheel straight. Or fence posts. Aesthetics.
Or if I hired someone to deliver professional services they should have their hair combed and not smell. Attention to detail in appearance leads people to believe other corners aren’t cut.

Re: 2022 Reveal — Stovepipe Thread C260TIP
My initial impression is that I agree that it seems like a miss on something this pricey. It’s not that the carbidized ti can’t be smooth-releasing, it’s just that my recent Taichung framelocks with that treatment have been pretty unpleasant to unlock. The Swayback was so nice to unlock (I’ve since ...

David got back to me on Instagram. He said the lockface is carbidized as in his customs. No steel interface on the Stovepipe.

Re: 2022 Reveal — Stovepipe Thread C260TIP
Hopefully one of the Spyderco crew can let us know whether it has a steel lockbar insert. David hasn’t responded either way on his Instagram. A properly carbidized titanium lockface doesn't really need an insert, no? The two Spydiechefs that I’ve bought both had that treatment, and both had bad loc...
