Re: Pingo
I really like mine, great for opening packages, cuts right through that Amazon.com cardboard and shipping tape! No point means I can't accidently stick the tip into my finger as I move to the other side of the box... Not, of course, that has ever happened to me. (Big lie.) The Pingo seems more reluc...

Re: I'm having a little trouble with 1095, is it normal?
Yeah, you may be getting a little burr. I have a large TOPS knife ( the Armageddon ) in 1095 which holds an edge really well, you can chop wood with it and still shave arm hair. I did notice that it takes a light touch on the stone, but it takes a lot less effort to sharpen than S30V, for instance. ...

Re: Spyderco Gardening Knife
Sometimes I use my Manix2 XL, but I usually will grab a Silky saw for pruning, especially branches over 1/2". I like the Accel 210 the best, you can cut a 1/4" twig or a 4" branch with equal ease... Those teeth are sharp! If it's mostly smaller stuff, I use a pair of bypass pruning sh...

Re: Something interesting happened today.
Very nice, absolutely the smoothest folder I own...lovely rendition of the lock, I have one of the Gerbers that piloted the concept in commercial knifes. This is much nicer. I have the Smurfy one!

Re: New Alloy idea
I agree with the bear faced one, way too brittle for a pocketknife. I use saw blades with tungsten carbide inserts, and they chip all the time, big ones too. The edges used are not acute like a knife, either, more like 45-60 degrees included, and the more acute they are, the quicker they chip. I bel...

Re: What are you listening to?
At the moment, I'm listening to my mother-in-law play the piano. She is a very eclectic player, in the last half hour I've heard spooky Halloween music, and classical pieces by a couple of contemporary Japanese composers. She sight reads new material cleaner than most.
Very relaxing...

Re: Excellent stone holders
I use these guys all the time when routing panel edges, they work great! Check out Rockler, they have blue Rockler branded ones that seem functionally identical, but are sometimes a bit less $$$. They have little height extenders, too. Great for sanding panels on the bench, no slippee-slidee. The li...

Yes, like so many folks, my wisdom teeth didn't have enough room to coexist with the rest of my choppers, so first one came out , then another, then the last two, over a period of three or four years. All uncomfortable and displeasing, to say the least. However... The WORST dental experience I have ...

Haven't seen anybody mention http://www.thespydercostore.com/ yet. I have gotten several Spydys from them, good prices, fast shipping, contacted their customer service one time and was dealt with quickly and courteously. Like knife works real well, too, the ladies in their engraving shop do a real n...

I think Mr. 3rdgenrigger has the right of it on the lockup thing. Normal manufacturing tolerances will add up, and especially on the physically smaller knives like the ladybug, Dfly, etc, the lockbar won't quite drop all the way into the recess in the tang at first without a little wiggle of some ki...

+1 on Matt's post. If you don't have any experience with the Domino, try to imagine a cross between a Dragonfly 2 and a Manix 2, with a really good flipper... You won't be far off. Very solid, very classy little knife, with enough handle to really get a grip on, no compromises here. And the ergos on...
