Based on that watermelon pic I'd say you should cater the next spyderco company barbecue. Those are some awesome shots.

Manix XL gets my vote as well. It's a great knife. For general camping and food prep I would take my Military over either my PM2 or my Manix XL.

I find the compression lock way easier to close with my left hand than a right-handed liner lock. It just took some time to get used to.

Are the holes for pin 1 and pin 2 to be used for holding the lock spring in place? Yes. Placing the new pin would be crucial to assuring a strong positive lock. Getting this right would be essential. I don't see why you would need the parts kit. I may be missing something. I wouldn't need the parts...
