That is really cool. I love the blade shape. BTW, what is the knife farthest to the right in your group of knives?

I'm not attempting to squelch anyone's voice nor am defending poor quality. Just saying the difference between having a few knives with less than expected levels of f&f is more an anecdotal example rather than a trend. For the same reason the last half dozen or so of my Japanese Spydies surely woul...

Getting one or two knives not meeting your ideal specs doesn't mean a slip of F&F but rather a bad statistical dice toss from makers that finish knives on power belts. In order to see a global decrease in F&F quality you would have compare a large number over time, or even of the same model. The on...

I will tell you that I really appreciate the candor with which one is able to speak on this forum. My intent of this post is not to be spiteful against Spyderco. Quite the opposite. I meant this as constructive criticism.

Could be an isolated incident with the particular knife you got, could be a sign of some concerns. I think it's good to give feedback, so long as it's constructive. As for your Kiwi, I always suggest that when people get knives that they feel aren't up to par, they send them back to Spyderco so the...

What's Going on in the Japan Plant?

I now have over 30 Spydercos and all of the plants are represented in my collection. Lately, the quality of the Spyderco's from the Japanese plants has been poor. For example, the Kiwi 4 I just got was terrible. Rather than a wharncliffe blade shape, it was recurved. The knife was dull and the edge ...

You will notice that I did not install the lanyard tube. Since the scale is thinner, the stock lanyard tube is too long. Since I do not use lanyards, I chose to leave the tube out. If you want a shortened tube, Gatorscales sells them.

My First Pimped Knife - A Southard

My wife gave me a Southard for my birthday and it has quickly become one of my favorite knives. The only things that I wanted to improve were the G-10 scale and the clip. The factory scale is a bit thick IMO and I prefer a deep carry clip. So, with a little research, I ran across Gatorscales. He mak...

Very sorry about the screw, what a bummer. I dealt with the same disappointment (the issue with how it performs with clip gone) and want to offer a slight variation in the solution. Instead of cutting the clip, I cut a very small piece of black rubber-coated wire (I think it was black chicken wire,...

Des Horn Issue

I bought a Spyderco Des Horn a week ago. I really like the knife and think it makes a great gentleman's knife. However, I do not like a clip on a gentleman's knife. The clip is attached via the pivot screw. The problem is, when you remove the clip, the pivot screw will then not tighten enough to cen...

Weight definitely registers more if you carry loose in your pocket, at least that's how it works for me. Second to that is how loose your clothes fit and how active you're gonna be while in those clothes....so if you wear jeans and are going about casually, you can probably carry a 10oz knife clipp...

I Was Wrong

A few weeks ago, I started a post asking why people seemed to enjoy the larger Spyderco's, such as the PM2, Military and Manix 2. I usually look for gentleman's folders with blade lengths 3" and smaller. Well, I decided to do a little horse-trading and ended up with a used Gayle Bradley. I have a Br...

Great Warranty Experience

I have purchased many, many Spyderco knives and have never needed to use the warranty service until now. Well, I had a Cat and a Sage 1 that had really weak detents. So, I sent them in a couple of weeks ago, along with a $5 check. Today, I get a package in the mail with a brand new Cat and Sage 1, a...
