Re: Spyderco Amsterdam Meet 2024 Report

Thanks for the great report and photos!

That 15V Millie 2 is a must buy, exactly what I was waiting for (an interesting tool steel version without micarta). And possibly being regular production means I might actually be able to buy it :D

Re: Spyderco 50th Anniversary Knife?

Maybe by then the new coating will be fully figured out and we could get a knife with red blade, black handle? Plus maybe by then the MagnaWear will be released (or some other new and interesting steel). First I thought the other way around, but then we just get an SNK exclusive ^^. Or, as the 50th ...

Re: Does side to side blade play matter?

I also never had a Seki knife where You couldn't get rid of lateral play. They might become a bit stiff to open, but backlocks are never really smooth either way... Backlocks aren't the smoothest lock, but if you tighten the pivot too much there is extra friction on the tang that is very noticeable...

Re: T15 Testing and Pondering About CATRA (BESS Data Included)

Is there a chance the K294 and 10V just had some minuscule burr that the T15 didn't and thus the sharpness drop-off was so acute? Lately I keep seeing something along those lines in my knives - I can't see any irregularities on my edges after sharpening, even less so after stropping (I use a 20x and...

Re: Black Linen Micarta instead CF/G-10 please

Yeah, I was especially referring to the Kapara, as it's pretty slippery (while opening and closing, not in use) with the current CF scales. That would be even more pronounced with polished micarta

Re: Vote: Kick? Choil? Forward? Other?

I'm fine with pretty much every option apart from the kick. I most prefer handle forward for edge/handle ratio but a finger choil or a small notch/choil are fine as well

Re: Black Linen Micarta instead CF/G-10 please

Not so sure. With that slim and smooth handle it would be easy to drop or slip grip and hurt Yourself. And fuzzy micarta is icky, so that wouldn't be a solution either ETA: Though if it get's me a new Kapara version with an interesting steel (K390 would be awesome indeed), then let it even be with y...

Cool! A cross bar lock setup seems sensible, much less intricate shapes to achieve in the tang area. Looking forward to Your photos

Re: Price increases for 2024

I wonder what's the motivation behind lowering the MAP discount. Maybe it's to allow non-USA dealers to be at least somewhat competitive? But that's backwards in mmyt book... Maybe that's to keep the MSRP the same as an illusion of prices not rising?`

Re: My Folding Mule Project

You would also have hot swappable scales that way! Something like the TRM Atom or Knafs Lander. Might be a decent idea to keep the pivot exposed as well to allow easier regulation, though not necessary

At 10:15, he stated, "we are gonna go across the board with our CruCartas."

Hope that means the Stretch 2 (not XL, or in addition to) and the Delica. Might even have to break down and finally buy a Sage - in CruCarta.
I think he said that in the context of Golden models

Re: Could this Delica 4 be a fake?

Though I wouldn't discount this being a fake - the "VG10" + ~BRG FRN combo was popular among the copies on chinese marketplaces, though luckily they disappeared from the typical AliEx, dhgate and banggood stores, so hopefully they are not produced anymore

Re: Community Sharpening Journal

You try to apply steel logic to ceramic sharpening. Steel is ductile, ceramic is brittle. That's not a difference as in between a tough and brittle steel but completely different behavior. Ceramic doesn't fatigue, doesn't really deform plastically as steel does either. It just fractures. That's why...
