Re: Updated Amazon.com anti-counterfeiting policy: Will this help Spyderco and customers?

I think the latter two looks more oriented towards high-value merchandises, e.g. watches, jewelries, electronics, etc. The automated protections on the other hand, ought to be interesting. Because we community members are essentially doing the same tasks as these AIs, given proper sample size and ap...

Re: Need some help with a pm2

IMG_20190225_230313.jpg Here are some extra higher quality pictures.please help.... The grind line looks very suspicious to me, won't be surprised if that's even hand ground. Screws feel too crude to be authentic as well. I have never on any Golden Colorado models spotted such a sloppily executed r...

Re: Stefan_Wolfs's Spyderco, Problem Logging In To Forum

All pictured parts looks authentic. Judging from the wear on the blade and scales, as well as lube marks around standoffs, I would lean towards the opinion that its parts have been swapped around before turned into a user. I did the same myself to two Para 2s that I now have already sold. I'd very m...

Re: LOL, gotta love eBay!!

In the description, it says "Condition: Used" "Modified Item: Yes" But someone may not see that. I actually had this exact listing on my eBay feed page the other day. As you mentioned, "Condition: Used", "Modified Item: Yes". But in description, "Conditi...

Re: 3V edge retention stainless equal???

OK, I am into a few shots of whiskey at the moment. What I would like to know is: what 3V edge retention is comparable to in stainless (what I am most familiar with) for slicing use only - field dressing animals, cleaning trout, cutting cardboard and packaging tape and such (not trying to slice bra...

https://i.imgur.com/of0cKBQ.jpg Dang do these Casey Lynch scales make me envy! Had been scouring through the Internet in the past few years, all I was able to lay my hands on are those made for PM2. This fact combined with existing Nishijin R at a relatively acceptable price have been holding me up...

This style is as close as to stock scales that I can find readily available.

Re: PM2 fake check, please (Amazon Direct)

I see no signs indicating it to be a fake.
Lanyard tube, laser marking, edge of scale, lock tab, screws, clip all looks legit.
Amazon has excellent customer service for what you pay them, but yeah I would agree that cutlery purchases are quite risky there, unless with reputable 3rd party sellers.

Re: Hard truths and observations

The only way that we've found is to have a metallurgical testing lab do a chemical analysis. Expensive, but accurate. sal That isn't entirely true. A PMI, with a quality analyzer, can give you a pretty accurate breakdown of the element content. If those particular alloys are in the library, the dat...

Re: Spyderco Customizer: A future possibility or a forever dream?

Won't see it plausible for Spyderco in the foreseeable future. Spyderco's manufacturing lines aren't as concentrated nor interchangeable like Benchmade or Leatherman, the two current major cutlery brands offering such services on limited models. Shipping, heat-treating, machining exotic steels in ex...

Re: How about a double edge dagger Spydie?

For a folding option, maybe Janisong, C191GP would be a good start. The blade is fully contained when closed, and it's restricted item anyways. Might be tricky to lay hands on though. You're probably right. But it's not what I'm looking for. I'm dreaming of a double edge symmetrial blade and symmet...

Re: How about a double edge dagger Spydie?

For a fixed blade option, the easiest solution is to just sharpen the swedge of Fish Hunter, FB40SYL. It already sports a symmetrical spear point blade with hollow ground on each side. For a folding option, maybe Janisong, C191GP would be a good start. The blade is fully contained when closed, and i...

Re: PM2 with fluted CF scales?

Fluted or contoured? https://i.imgur.com/6dmhW6gh.jpg I'd take fluted over contoured in the case of PM2 to be honest. I mean, contouring surely looks nice with most Taichung knives (in fact lots of them are contoured); the difference is most their screws are pan/oval head, unlike PM2's countersunk....

Re: Where can I get the Manix 2 with Orange G10 Scales Cutlery Shop Exclusive

A brand new one with a perfect box is very, very, very hard to find since it was a distributor exclusive run like 7 years ago. Plus the only thing it's special for is just the orange peel-ply G10; the blade steel is just ordinary S30V. If you are not just looking for the color that I once did, I wou...

Re: Spyderco 2018 Production Sample - Marcin Slysz Techno 2

The Techno 1 is, to me, a wonderfully quirky design. That massive overbuilt little beast still cuts like many much more ‘dainty’ knife designs. The Techno 2, was noticeably thinner. Although I appreciate the new blade profile and bright green anodized stand-offs, I’m not sure yet I like the thinner...

Re: Are there two hand opening locking knives by Spyderco?

Buck also makes the Ranger 112 (7.62 cm) in S30V and Micarta, or 5160 (both available at copperandclad.com); D2 (skblades.com). I offer this because of any blade length restrictions. Yup. Now I really start to understand Boker's strategies in their folder department -- so many of them are slip join...
