Re: Civilian "Reinforced Tip"
I have both a current production Civilian and a Matriarch. The tip on the Matriarch seems a bit more beefed up than the Civilian, but the Civilian is one totally badass blade. I wouldn't use the Civilian to cut up boxes...it might be ok for picking my teeth with if I couldn't find a toothpick

Re: Brief review and photoshoot of the Spyderco P'kal
GoldenSpydie - Nice Pictures!
I've been carrying a Pikal as EDC for a few months now. For my uses it's a terrific knife for fruit peeling and other mundane tasks, and it looks unbelievably cool & purpose driven, yet understated.

We spent more than a year developing the model, which was originally suggested by a forumite. sal Sal, Thanks for producing such extraordinary and well-made knives. I like the wide variety of clever and subtly well thought out products that you offer at reasonable prices. The P’kal is truly a one-o...

the wave is removable on the P'kal if you do not need it for SD purposes. Would make it a better EDC if that is your intent Thanks and yes, the removable wave feature makes this knife more attractive for EDC. With the wire clip the P'kal resembles a Caly 3.5 clipped in the pocket. Pulling the pickl...

P’kal size compared to Delica
Hey Guys, I just got a Spyderco P’kal (C103G) that I’ve been researching for some time. It’s a sophisticated & elegant pocket folder. It’s a neat little machine that is tight and smooth. I was kind of surprised how similar the P’kal is in size to the Delica; but a bit heavier than the Delica. Th...

I think there is yet another factor in why the extremes in violence, mass school shootings, and crazy mass murders seem more commonplace in recent years in America compared to the mythical “good old days”. A big factor is the nature of a belief in a so called “higher power”. It is a virtually Godles...

It is fascinating to me that the serrated edge Delica did not cut better than the plain edge Delica, instead the performance was worse than the plain edge knife in this application. This begs the question: Would a serrated edge hawk bill such as the Civilian, Matriarch, or Tasman Salt tend to bounce...

The Colt 1911 is one of the most quintessential American objects you can own. It’s one of the few handguns that has been in non-stop production by the same company for more than 100 years. Since you are in the “former Constitution state” you may want to check out the Connecticut State Library’s Colt...

The sound of a shotgun would attract all the other zombies within earshot. Baseball bat is a reasonable common-sense choice for a Zombie Apocalypse day. The problem is carrying a baseball bat around all the time will get me a lot of strange looks at the office. I’ll probably end up schlepping along ...

It just seems to me that it has (more) moving parts to it, which is to say it is more complicated, and thus, more can go wrong. I really have had no experience with the lock type, and I guess I finally felt I needed to look into it. Officer Gigglez, I would think there are more factors to the life ...

Parhelion, Thank you for your thought-provoking and interesting essay about the current unrest in the Ukraine. Most of the news agencies in the USA that I'm aware of are portraying the situation as a violent conflict between freedom-loving Ukrainians and some of their corrupt politicians. The Russia...
