Re: What Spyderco is in your pocket today??

No snazzy photos of it, but Ive had the S90v PPT Sprint in my pocket all week. I'm really happy I didnt miss out on this one, but the all-black sprint didnt seem as "special".

As well as a Kahr Arms Delica.

S90v PPT Sprint

I ordered a PPT sprint last night, the carbon fiber and S90v were too much to resist this time around. I'm seeing the knife listed as Made in the USA everywhere i look. The originals were produced in Taichung, correct? The change in country of origin would certainly account for some of the differenc...

Re: Question on Manix 2 Lock

I haven't had the chance to handle one in person yet. While I like everything I've seen and read about this knife the plastic piece that you use to close the lock appears to be flimsy and capable of breaking with a lot use. I'd appreciate to hear your experience if you have this knife. The Manix 2 ...

Re: Yard knife

I've often used a Police + Delica combination in the yard.

The performance of SE H1 seems like a great contender.

Re: Poll: Flippers

I like flippers, they are fun to play with. They offer no meaningful "practical" advantage, but they are still nice.

I'm personally waiting for the next Southard collaboration, the one with the Compression Lock.

Re: Blade Show Excitement

I'm surprised by the general lack of Blade Show videos this year. Not just for Spyderco knives, but across the board. The Shaman looks very promising though.

The Bow River looks promising! I still need to pick up a Southfork, but more trailing points are always nice.

A Police without Spyderedge? Blasphemy!

More seriously though, does anyone have any idea how K390 would perform with serrations?

Re: I love my Southard but:

It has also been my experience that the Southard isn't the best flipper. It works perfectly well with a push-button style deployment, but not so much with lightswitch. There are a couple factors that contribute to this I believe. For starters, it was Spyderco's first venture into flippers. Every sub...

Re: Nirvana - Possible W&R Issue

Every Taichung model I've owned has shown moderate to severe detent ball wear over time. My GB2 showed the least, while the detent ball on my Southard is almost flush with the framelock. I used to think it might have something to do with the bead-blast, acid etch, and tumbled finishes somehow weaken...

I believe it is listed as 3.75". And that is for the "small" Caribbean. We haven't seen pictures of the larger Caribbean yet though.

Re: Tell me about custom production folders.

I had a Tolk for a couple years. They are very nice knives, and balance outsourced machining and hand crafting quite well. I thought of it like this, at $475 it isn't that much more expensive than high-end production knives, but has a little more caché since Brad Southard actually did a lot of hand ...

Re: Do you know of any Spydercos meeting this criteria?

Couple things. 1) I don't know if I'd say the CBBL has a self close mechanism. Once the ball is out of the dimple it rests in, the blade will open just as easily as a liner lock. 2) Years ago we had a discussion about DLC and whether or not it made a difference with corrosion resistance and I seem ...

Re: Interest in non-Salt hawkbills?

My biggest reason for always voting for H1 for a hawkbill is because I tend to also like them in SE. I would be all for a different steel if PE were the only option. SE edge is always an option I think. That makes H1 still a strong contender. Nested compression lock and a woodsy looking canvas mica...

Interest in non-Salt hawkbills?

I was day-dreaming about hawkbills, and potential knife designs while driving today. One would be called the Siren, and could be the big sister to the Harpy. But I certainly gave more thought to a pair of Owl-themed MBC hawkbills. Owls, being zygodactyl, are able to pivot one of their toes so they h...

Re: Does anyone else struggle with rotating?

I like to switch it up with what I carry. Larger knives that I carry are just for fun and pride of ownership. The Delica that I always carry is usually more than adequate. With the various social media hashtags about #manixmonday, #tantotuesday, and so on it makes switching up knives more like a gam...

Re: Biggest Spyderco regret of 2016

I only sorta regret it, but I sold a 440V Chinook I for "new-shotgun funds". It was a grail of mine for several years, but after the honeymoon phase passed, I didn't carry or use it. Now that I think about it, I really regret not buying one of Country Knives' Lum Tanto folders. Now they ar...

Re: Carbon Fiber wear and tear question(s)

There are only a couple issues I've seen with Spyderco carbon fiber. 1. The CF G10 laminate can separate if dropped along the edge. 2. The cutout for the Positron's pocket clip is close enough to the edge of the scale that the CF can crack if the clip gets yanked hard. As far as in the kitchen, carb...
