Re: Cancel Culture??

I don't think it's about sides. It's about a rising culture where this kind of thing is a frequently used tactic. Exactly. It’s a highly destructive social phenomenon and WHOEVER is participating in it is part of the problem. There is a correct side to be on in this issue but that line has nothing ...

Re: My Kapara’s pivot screw is stuck...

I’ve always used the heat method. I hold a spare loose torx bit in the screw head, and heat that up with a jet lighter.

Re: Covid-19 vaccination starting (UK)

The U.K. government scientists are saying that there is a “realistic possibility” that the Indian variant spreads 50% faster than the last.

Not great news. With only my first jab under my belt, I’m not going to be taking any chances.

Re: Covid-19 vaccination starting (UK)

There’s worry here now about a new Indian Variant, even more transmissible than the last.

I think we’ll be seeing the need for updated booster shots for quite some while.

Re: Much needed CQI on Taichung Spydercos.

My Kapara’s detent is very good, as is the Watu, but that’s a very light blade. My Caribbean wasn’t until I bored out the detent hole a little. My Hundred Pacer had a heavier blade and the detent was almost non existent. My Shaman has a heavier blade still but no detent issue at all. I agree - this ...

Re: Whisky

I don't drink, never have, but Scotch Whiskey always remind me fondly of my late Father in Law. A Scottish/English man of refined tastes and manners, poet, painter, teacher, and lover of fine Scotch Whiskies. Some of these old boys new how to take it, well enough! I used to know one old guy who wou...

Re: K390 Police 4 LW SE

Interesting choice of serrations. I wonder whether that’s the wrong graphic, chosen for the steel characteristics in use, or related to the availability of suitable grinding media at the factory.
Not that it matters.... that is going to be an awesome blade!

Re: Any mechanical pencils fans?

Yes! I have one like that from the Prado museum. We used to call those “clutch pencils” for obvious reasons. I only use mine everyday for taking notes during my many phone calls.... I was a pen and ink architectural draftsman before CAD and still have my Pentel automatic pencils in 0.3, 0.5 and 0.7m...

Re: Cancel Culture??

So called Cancel Culture only works if there are enough people willing to get on the "cancellation" side... I'm not sure that's true. In the era of social media, a 'mob' can be composed of only a few hundred people. The just have to be dedicated to making a lot of noise constantly until they are sa...

Re: Whisky

It’s Scotch whisky ;) You’ve chosen some great ones, there! I think Oban is my all time favourite. The Lagavulin is my favourite peaty Islay. Laphroig is lovely but often a bit “full-on”. I used to drink it neat, but age (mine) and wisdom (other people’s, obviously) caught up with me, so now I usual...

Re: Reveal 8 Released!

I'm intrigued to learn more about Sal's phrase "The Edge is a Ghost" and the meaning behind it. Also, after looking over the mugs a bit more, I wanted to decipher the symbols shown below the phrase. The seemingly random symbols make much more sense now. They're ghost edges . ;) First line is the ed...

I applaud the sentiment supporting those who protect.

The SE P4 is tempting, as is the s35vn Resilience. I will have too see what their prices are like once they cross the pond. I’m waiting for a Spyderco espresso cup, though ... :D

Brilliant article, thank you! Also for all the informative comments.

The Rex45 chart placements did stand out, tbh. All the glowing reports of it in use can’t just be hype, though.

Re: Covid-19 vaccination starting (UK)

Well, I got my 1st dose a couple hours ago, through Kaiser. It’s the Moderna vaccine. Appointment for the 2nd dose is June 7. It’s only been a couple of hours, but so far no side effects, not even a sore arm. Jim Great stuff, Jim! I have read in a number of places now that vaccine response is not r...

Re: Cancel Culture??

One thing we seem to be doing better on this forum is to say “I disagree” rather than “You’re wrong”.

There’s a subtle but important difference, not least in that it’s far more respectful.
