Fantastic thread. Craftsmanship, science and innovation in one. Add to that the redemption of an old villain (s60v, not Sal) and it’s a real treat.

Re: Visualizing the Tradeoff of Higher Hardness
I didn’t enjoy sharpening the s60v in my Starmate one little bit. It would be very interesting to see what effect an updated HT would have.

Re: Native Scout?
I think a mid sized Native is a fantastic idea.
With (or without, actually) a sabre or scandi grind it would be an excellent bushcraft or all-purpose field knife.

Interesting idea …
I would rather have a Native 5 slip joint, but only because I find the Para 3 a little cramped in hand.

Although I try to punctuate correctly, I’m more interested in other people’s views than their grammar - up until the point where it affects my understanding of what they are trying to say.
PS. I’m not entirely convinced about Joe’s idea of shooting the slightly illiterate.

Yes - I found this obtrusive on the Wolfspyder. I didn’t mind the slow deployment but the ergonomics just didn’t chime. And I tried twice, a couple of years apart.

Re: Your favorite exclusives
Exclusives are rare this side of the pond, except the HH slipjoints. Other than those I only have a couple, also including the 4V Wayne Goddard. However, the m4 Native 5 is my go-to work knife, so must be crowned favourite. It has been dyed from the original jade and featured in a supporting role in...

Re: The best "worst" serrated knives I have ever owned.
My experience of the Kitchen Devil type serrations is that they arrive sharp, and as they wear the thin stock and fine (but blunt) teeth allow the knife to keep separating softer foodstuffs almost indefinitely, albeit without finesse or accuracy. I far prefer properly sharp kitchen knives, both plai...

Re: Recommendations for a European traditionalist
... As Wartstein said, our minister of interior affairs just announced they are working on a bill to restrict knives basically the same way as Germany or the UK does, so if this bill should pass it's going to be a UK PK or Lil Native Slipit anyways :) .... Man, we can´t let that happen! This is not...

I wonder whether the tools our forbears had to buy were any cheaper relative to their incomes?

Re: Any recommendations?
The UKPK would be a good choice, I think. It’s enough blade to be useful, and enough handle to be easy to draw, manipulate and hold.
Great steel choices, and a serrated option, too (that one’s a cutting demon).
