Re: Mule Team University Series Proposal
That sounds like the traditional bronze formula. You probably have enough metal to experiment with. Lately I’ve been seeing a lot of aluminum bronze but aluminum in the past was extremely rare and valuable. I need to try to cast some bronze when it warms up. spyderwa

Re: I've finished my Spyderco steel collection.
If you want to expand your “steel” definition there are two more items. The Tak Fukuta ceramic folder and the ceramic dive probe. Both are real Spyderco models minus the hole. I have never seen the ceramic dive probe in person though I am fortunate enough to have two of the Tak Fukuta folders. The w...

Josh, I'm sure they may even have their own proprietary metal recipes. I had always thought of brass for cymbals. Any scraps that you have can be melted down for your cast mule.

Re: Mule Team University Series Proposal
If you wanted to make one in the original manner you would have to cast it using a sand mold. In a modern production setting you could waterjet cut it, (or maybe plasma cut it but that might be too hot). As far as machining, the only worry might be getting bronze residue on the CNC bits or grinder. ...

Mule Team University Series Proposal
Since the Mule Team Series is about exploring the cutting edge of knife steel products, what about a dip into the past? What I am proposing is a series of mule team blades using some of the first metals used by man. We all know what a great steel is supposed to do but what if we had the chance to ex...

That is possible. The next time I see him or talk to him I'll try to remember to ask. I was under the impressions that the church mice were gifts for folks in his church. It was a while ago.

Re: Unicorn Hunting - Wegner C49 w/ Fish?
It would appear to exist as I have one in my collection. I have attached a couple pics. Whether it was done as a trial run or very limited run I do not know. I have only seen one C49 thus marked, (this one). Enjoy. Spyderwa PS. Not for sale. 20210217_172343_resized[4309].jpg 20210217_173546_resized[...

Re: DIY Spyderco Traveler Cup
My wife was also gifted a travel mug with promotional advertising that she did not care for. I used Goof Off to get rid of the printing and installed a Spyderco decal that I bought from the Spyderco Online Store. She is delighted that I am able to get some use out of this. Merry Christmas.

Re: Does anyone have a rainbow cricket?
I had the one in the photo from the angelfire site, (my site btw). I purchased this one in 2004 from the G. Sakai factory in Seki City, Japan. They used to have a sale at their old factory and this is one of the items that I picked up. Unfortunately I sold it many years ago. The money that I made he...

Re: How to Sharpen an Oboe Reed Knife using the Tri-Angle Sharpmaker
Hi, My wife has played oboe at a professional level for many years and also makes her own reeds. She currently uses a Landwell knife and sharpens it with one of the Spyderco medium ceramic whet stones. She is right-handed and evidently that makes a difference in how she sharpens the knife. She begin...

Re: Spyderco presence at Seki city cutlery festival?
In the past they had a sale at the G. Sakai factory where you could purchase a number of older G. Sakai made Spydercos. On my most recent visit they moved into the indoor knife show with a table of assorted knives including a few Spydercos. At the last show they had a few Everest Workers though I th...
