Re: edc backpacks

I have been using an Outdoor Products Quest Backpack for about five years. The front zippered pocket fits my 9.7" Ipad perfectly. I use it all the time and it has held up great. I throw it in the washing machine from time to time. https://www.walmart.com/ip/Outdoor-Products-Quest-Backpack-Hydration-...

Re: The Last Gun You Bought

It has been a couple of years since I purchased a gun but my last one was a Springfield Armory XD-9 Sub-compact. I put some talon grips and tritium sights on it.

On a side note, there should be good deals on "assault rifles" coming out of Canada since they have been banned.

A couple of questions.
On a scale of one to ten where smooth carbon fiber is a two and the typical G-10 texture is a nine, where would you put the pictured scales in terms of texture aggressiveness?

Where did you get them?

Re: Family friendly jokes

Why is six afraid of seven? Because seven ate nine. ____ An Irishman walks into a bar and says to the bartender, "Give me three pints of Guinness, lad". The bartender obliges, and the Irishman lifts two of the three glasses to the air, as if toasting some invisible person. He then set them down, and...

oops double post.

I’ll use the opportunity to agree that a Sharpmaker should be high on your list to purchase. It is a game changer.

Re: Choosing Delica 4 FFG variant

After seeing this, I went to the original post to see if I had missed anything. After seeing that I didn't miss anything from the OP, I looked further down the thread and saw this other stipulation, and yes I missed it. You are easily confused. After thinking about it, I stand by my recomendation. ...

Re: Choosing Delica 4 FFG variant

Wait for the K390 version. Sorry guys, not looking at non- stainless, and wood handles are too much maintenance. After seeing this, I went to the original post to see if I had missed anything. Re: Changing size comfort zone...

Interesting subject. In the last ten years or so I have started from scratch about three times searching for my perfect sized pocket knife. If you only count the cutting edge, I always end up at around three inches as my preferred length. I have given the Military and Endura and other longer blades ...

Re: What did you use your Spyderco for last?

Slow day around the shop and my Maxamet hadn’t been fed yet. So I took it out on some random hose. RC_BladeWorks scales right? I have the same pattern in a set of Shaman (skinny-cut) scales... Yes, I got them from RC_BladeWorks. I like them. The fit and finish, and functionality are top notch. I lo...

Re: K390 ladybug alert thread

I’m still unsure if I want this steel. I don’t want to have to buy a bunch of new sharpening gear. I’m well stocked and quite satisfied with Spyderco ceramics now; k390, Maxamet, 10v etc. all seem to need diamonds do get best results. I may be better off sticking with rex45, M4, Cruwear, etc. 🤷‍♂️ ...

Re: >30 degree factory bevels

I am trying to keep my knife footprint small. Here is my minimalist’s box of knives and knife repair tools. When I do have to reprofile, I take it to 30 degrees, or whatever the setup below gets me using the 30 degree slots. I don’t get too wound up about things not being exactly 30 degrees. Anywher...

Re: >30 degree factory bevels

Yea I recently got my Para 3 and one was perfect 15 degrees on one side but the other was a little obtuse angle, I had to reprofile with diamond rods but it's fine at the end, I'm learning and honestly more aesthetic for me! At the moment I have successfully reprofiled that wonky side to 15 degrees...

Re: >30 degree factory bevels

As long as it is less than 40, I'm good. Less than 30 would fill that parameter. I do see what you are talking about when a "new to the Sharpmaker" person doesn't understand the microbevel concept and can see no results on the 30 degree settings. They could get frustrated sharpening a 32 degree edge.
