If you already have an EDC that you are happy with and this knife will be for more discreet carry, then I would go with the Chaparral. The back locks on the Chaps do not lend themselves to being flicked open like the Sage 1 and 2, but that is not very discreet anyway. Good luck with your decision ...

Ok, I will try and sway you towards the Chaparral but I see your conundrum, as it's tough to pick between that and the Sage 1. If you are ok with having two backlocks (Caly and Chaparral) then by all means the Chaparral. It is light as a feather, discreet, and carries like it's not even there. It ...

Yes. That would be my EDC. The folder in question would be for social purpose (discreet).

Spyderco Sage1 ~ C123CF vs Spyderco Chaparral ~ C152CF

Which one would you recommend? High on priority is SD. But the chance of that happening is near zero(<0.01% :D ). The common chore I foresee is slicing fruits and eating , most likely at steaks & ribs house. No whittling definitely, nor cutting boxes. I would prefer to buy only one and not the other ...

Apology if I'm resurrecting this thread. This topic really intrigue me. I sometimes carry a folder for SD, but I don't really understand blade manipulation. I figure the best way to learn and gain experience is to use knife often. Unfortunately, I don't cook. I'm planning on eating T bone steaks ...

Harumph! I checked the hole on my Delica, and my DragonFly, and the Delica has sharp edge on my thumb side, but chamfered on the other side. The DragonFly hole is sharp on both sides. I have delicate thimbs :D , but the purchase with the hole is just fine.

To be honest, I bought my first Delica+trainer just for the purpose of SD. Where I live, I had CCW permit for my SigSauer P225, which got too heavy, and a PITA to renew permit. I also bought the DragonFly, all these direct from Spyderco, and received a complimentary green Jester. That was long time ...

So, may I assume that a short blade such as on DragonFly or neck knife is not suitable for EDC self defense purpose? Chances are that I'll never have to use a blade for self defense, and lugging some thing long in my trousers' pocket day in / day out is a PITA :D . Yet I read that the best defense ...

Wheelin, where do you live?

If I was looking for a defensive weapon, I wouldn't pick either of those. I love my Dragonfly, but it's not really suitable for that sort of thing.

Do you have legal restrictions that prevent you carrying something else for defense?
I live in Thailand. Believe it or ...

DragonFly vs neck nife for EDC. ?

This is my first post. Hope my question will not bore you guys. This is for self defense purpose, and as a deterrent only. I have no intention to maim or permanently injure would be thug, so it will be slash slash, and no stabbing. BTW I'm fairly street wise, and avoid dark alleys etc. I have no ...
