Re: Mid year 2018

Sal, you're killing me. (Or at least my budget.) ;)

There are FANTASTIC new releases here. I was not aware of the Drunken, McBee models, for starters - and want 'em both.

Side comment: with all the fancy pivot hardware, Sinkevich /other collaborations, and some of the design choices, many of these ...

Re: Favorite Dragonfly Variant

I have three: the Nishijin glass fiber / ZDP 189 version (gentleman's folder that stays at my office); serrated SALT H-1 version (for water adventures); and the Burnt-Orange Hap40 (which gets dropped in my pocket, sans clip, throughout the warmer summer months).

I voted Burnt-Orange Hap40: the ...

Glad to hear of so many other Junction fans! This calls for a celebration -- a family (i.e., my Gayle Bradley family) pic.

All three are fantastic knives!!! Sprig and Southfork have my favorite handles, but right now I think the Junction’s blade ‘takes the cake’ / will get the most mileage for me.

Discussion re: this JUNCTION (pics)

This forum never lets me down... but I've been a little surprised by the lack of attention given to the new Gayle Bradley collaboration, the Junction. It caught my attention right away: thinner blade stock & shorter length, vs. my beloved Southfork… it seemed like a perfect backpacking blade to me ...

Re: Jumpmaster 2 and the Junction have dropped

4 people waiting on the Junction? No, say it isn't so, I cant' be alone here!!!

I'm dying for a review / pics on the Junction, have been since I saw it. Interestingly, I can't find it on Spyderco.com. But other places seem to report a blade thickness of 2.5mm / 0.098" ... which means my current ...

Re: Is Slysz Bowie a good user ?

No... it is not a good user.

It is a GREAT user -- one of the best.

IMHO, the blade may have more belly than some prefer, but it strikes the perfect balance of 'thin slicing ability yet still rugged.'

Re: Do you TRUST your EDC?

Yes. TRUST is a MUST.

I TRUST my EDC to reliably, predictably :
CARRY WELL, stay secure and be there when I need it, without being a pain in the ... pocket;
draw, OPEN and LOCK UP quickly;
CUT or SLICE as I demand;
remain secure and reasonably comfortable in my GRIP, regardless of how I shift it ...

Re: Spyderco Sprig

Mick, thanks again for all the info. And videos...

In fact, your 'Southfork vs. Sprig' tabletop comparison answered the final question that had been holding me back on the Sprig: how does it compare to the Southfork in terms of thickness behind the edge? Given how your video showed the Sprig is ...

Re: Your top 3 (Owned) Spyderco folders

1 - Stretch . (Best slicer, ever... if I could only have one knife, it'd probably be this one...)
2 - Dragonfly . (If pressed to pick the version, I'd go w/ good 'ol VG-10. But the D.Fly is the only knife I have three versions of: VG-10, ZDP189/Nishijin; and now H1 serrated.)
3 - Techno ...

Agree w/ Evil D (watch is essential). Fumbling for cell in the middle of the night to check the time? Not for me. (It helps that I've worn one since i was a kid, too...)

The question is, which watches are Spyderco worthy? I offer two submissions.

For dressier times: Sinn 556i, with DragonFly ...

Re: Spydies you are gifting this Christmas

Great topic!!! It's more fun to give than receive, right?! (Well, maybe some of the time ....)

This time the giving is way more fun for me. I get to give my 14 year old son (a Life Scout - that's the rank before Eagle, in the Boy Scouts of America) his first 'nice' knife, an Orange Delica FFG . He ...

Re: EDC Battle: Delica vs. Endura vs. Stretch

I'm very happy that my vote pushed the Stretch ahead (it was tied w/ the Endura when I clicked "Stretch")...

-It splits the size between the two. Most of the same edge of the Endura... but not quite as long/potentially unwieldy.
-As a slicer, the Stretch is simply... strangely good. It's one of the ...

Steel: it honestly seemed comparable to s30v, to this average user; but it gets bonus points for being a little less common.

Course G-10: Um... yes please. More. MORE. (Perfect for this type of work-friendly knife.)

Knife overall: Great value, a true keeper/user/gem. (I'd save your pennies for ...

Great question!

Dragonfly Nishijin glass fiber handle/zdp189: always clipless, like a gentleman should be. :) (Same went for my Des Horn, which took modification to run clipless...until I sold it.)

Techno: Sometimes clipless. I'll go a month or two at a time with out it, slipping it into coin or ...

Re: Schempp Bowie after 2 months of carry - pics and review

This thread just confirms what an interesting (excellent) creation this blade is!

I'll admit the first photos I saw (catalog-type) did nothing for me. Once I started seeing user photos, though, the intrigue set in. Now this aging brass stuff? It gives it a ton of character... I'm hooked.

Love it ...
