Re: Upping the price.

To those of you who do not want to pay for Spyderco products, I say depart and do not return. Either trust those managing the creation of Spyderco products or find another manufacturer that pleases you. Spyderco the corporation, the First Family of Spyderco, it's employees and fans do not need you ...

Re: Upping the price.

I purchased my Buck 110 (420HC) in April 2013 for $35.95. It has a nice Rosewood handle which isn't available anymore. The Ebony wood handle now is $64.99. The Buck 110 was introduced in in 1964. It's a classic American folding knife.

I'm not getting email notifications on subscribed threads like I used to.

Drop down for thread tools is tough to read.

Re: Forum Update/Maintenance & Move - PLEASE READ

The old themes looked much easier to read than now on iOS / Safari platform. In particular, the Notification page is difficult to read. Gray font on gray background is tough to read. Old videos don’t play.

Re: Any recommendations?

Spyderco Smock would probably be a good choice for arthritis hands since it’s a button compression lock and can be opened via blade hole or flipper tab. Very well made in Taiwan. Unfortunately, the blade length is 3.4” and goes for $228.

Re: new coating coming!

I thought the new in-house coating was just for the U.S. made Spyderco knives replacing the expensive DLC coating? Spyderco knives from Japan and Taiwan use TiCN coating. Also, I’m assuming the recently released ParaMilitary2 Salt Black Blade is DLC but at some point it’ll be the new in-house coatin...

Re: Any recommendations?

Try a Roadie Slip Joint with a 2.1” blade, one ounce, made in Italy for about $63. Comes in various colors. Current blade steel is N690 but it’ll become a much better M398 soon.

Re: Masters of the Air

The National WWII Museum in New Orleans is not only one of the best museums in the U.S. but a valuable resource and publishes many interesting and informative articles. One recent article is The 'Bloody 100th' Bomb Group: The Eighth Air Force’s hard luck unit was filled with colorful personalities w...

Re: Godzilla Minus One

I didn't watch the Oscars. I never do. I got disgusted with them years ago. I am glad it won and the affects were very good. I wish it had been nominated for more. Some of those actors really made you feel their pain and grief. The Oscars shows were overly politicized starting in 2016 but it has “n...

Re: Spyderco Amsterdam Meet 2024 Report

There seems to be an increase in unwarranted movements to “defeat” folders be that thin tip, thin stock, blade hole causing cracks/breaks, thumb studs causing cracks/breaks, harsh spine whacking to defeat locks and so forth. Just say no. Undoubtedly, you can defeat all folders given enough effort.

I’ll check out the Big Week: The Biggest Air Battle of World War II book as well. It feels like it would make a great movie.

Re: Masters of the Air

Good narrative Coastal. You should be very proud of your Dad. When I said air superiority in Spring 1944 I meant over France not Germany. The German 88mm Flak guns were formidable with a muzzle velocity of 2,690 feet/second. Fortunately, the Germans did not have our proximity fuses which was one of ...

Re: Spyderco Amsterdam Meet 2024 Report

The upcoming Charisma folder kind of reminds me of the Victorinox Swiss Classic Picnic knives which are liner lock folders weighing 1.5 ounces (42g). Blade steel is the German 1.4116 56 RC stainless steel (close in composition to 420HC steel), plain or fully serrated edge, blade length of 4.3" ...

Re: Masters of the Air

It wasn’t until mid-December 1943 when P-51D Mustang fighters with the Merlin engine provided the US Army Air Forces with the high-performance, high-altitude, long range fighters which could escort B-17 bomber formations all the way to Berlin and back. Massive losses between June 1943 and December 1...
